Hello Vella Karman here, a homeschooled 11 year old. I am in 6th grade. I like to dance ballet, especially point, and I also write my own stories. I can't see what I am doing in ballet but I can feel the beauty of it, and I praise God with it. Maybe later I will post some of my stories, I want people to see my work but I am afraid they will think it's terrible and say I am awful at writing. But I still want your comments even if that's what you have to say, I'll try not to take it personally, I am looking for constrictive criticism so say what you really think.

Low grades???

The states grades have been lowered. The A and B schools have become less. But why? hey say It is because of the change in tests. But I also happened to know that in the past few years homeschoolers have stopped taking the tests in the past few years. And some of the people I know think that is the reason for the lower grades. But who knows? Please post your opinion in the comments, thanks for reading.

Today we read about gluten and I learned what enriched wheat is. It is wheat with the nutrients put back in it after it lost its nutrient while it was boing milled. We read our health book and it took a bit longer than usual; to answer the questions.

LA was easy today. All I had to do was copy the stuff I already wrote onto the space I was supposed to have written it in. It was super duper fun to write and I hope someday once I finnish the book I can get it published.

Today I had to look at a picture and pretend that it was the picture on the cover of a book. Then I had to tell them what I wanted the title to be, the name’s of the characters, and the basic plot line. Tomorrow I was supposed to write what it says on the back cover but I did it today as extra. Now I am planning on writing the whole book.

For word study I had to look up a couple of words in the dictionary. It took a way longer time than usual, and it wasn’t very fun but it was ok.

Niamey is in Niger. We don’t know what Niamey means, 1,027,000 people live there. They have some poverty in Niamey.

We learned about water for Sudan today. It is cool. We read a book based on the founders life, and he helped someone write it. It was hard to read at times because the founder was alive during the civil war in Sudan, but I loved it. Later we visited their website, and heard one of the workers stories.

We started 1st John today. It is going to be interesting, John feels pretty strongly about other religions. He is attacking one head on right from the very first sentence in this book.

Cotonou is in Benin. We don’t know what that means.841,000 people live in Cotonou.

We read some really weird poems today. One was about lily pads, and the other one was about giraffes. In the lily pad one they described waterlilies as white dots and lily pads as beautiful things.

PIG SUEI

A couple in little rock have a pet vietnamese pot bellied pig. The state got a complaint about it from a neighbor and enforced the law about two hoved animals having to live at least 300 feet away from another house or business.Their attorneys quit because she said she was having problems with them on their blog. They couldn’t find more attorneys so they dropped the charges. She says that before she moved their she checked if it was ok.

Today in science we learned about genetically modified cows that make milk that can be turned into steel, and about how and why businesses invest in gene science. The simple answer to the why part of that question is they can make money from it. The other part of the question is simply answered too, basically they fund it.

Today I got to do a choose your own adventure for Africa. I did the one where you make a mask, like they do. It was cool, I really liked it and it was fun even though it took a long long time to do it.

Today our principle/dad/substitute teacher/guidance councilor taught us today because our mom is going to funeral out of state today and tomorrow. I miss our teacher/mom/guidance councilor but I did have a lot of fun with our substitute teacher.

In science we learned about enzymes. They are sort of cool, and I like how they make fruits and vegetables ripen, meat be more tender, and make it so we can make cheese. The questions were ok, not too hard but not super easy.

Tripoli is the capital of Libya. It means natural abrasive. 2,322,000 people live in Tripoli. They have a growing economy.

For vocabulary I had to look up a bunch of latin words. Did you know that the word alien came from a latin word that means other? It took a super long time to look up what they all meant.

I was learning about homophones in word study today. Homophones are words that sound the same but have different meanings, such as two, and to, or there and they’re. It was sort of easy but fun and didn’t take a super long time.

Yesterday we started a new book it’s name is David Livingstone. It is in a seiries we have read before and he was Mary Slessors hero. It’s a really good book and it’s super duper cool and fun and it all fits together. I really really like this book.

Tunisis is in Tunisia, we don’t know what Tunisia means. 2,100,000 people live there. They have a high unemployment rate and still do child sacrifice. Child sacrifice is horrible, when we prayed for them I prayed especially for it to stop, it is so so sad!!!
