Flags Half-Mast

Monday afternoon Trump ordered the flag back down in honor of John McCain’s death. The flag was raised to full mast as to protocol, then in the face of criticism Trump ordered it back until Sunday, when McCain will be interned. Before complaints Trump didn’t make any public statement about his death, although he tweeted his “deepest sympathy and respect” to the McCain family. A makeshift memorial has formed outside McCain’s former office in Phoenix. There will be memorial services commemorating the veteran, which Trump has been asked not to attend. Mike Pence, George W. Bush, and Obama are all invited to speak at the numerous services.

Week 4, Lots More

8/20/18

Today I started a new science book. Or should I say restarted a new science book. I’ve done it twice before, in a different core. So I’m just skimming. I still get to do robot experiments though!

We volunteered at Call Mall this morning. At Call Mall we hung up clothes. It was pretty boring and short. Tonight we go back to set up and maybe help people shop!

8/21/18

Today I had a lot of free time. School was super easy. I even finished the book I was reading today.

I am going to write a memoir in English. Today I wrote down things like the five senses about two memories. I wrote about when oFrom ur car wouldn’t start, and when Adi dropped my birthday cake. It’s interesting.

8/22/18

I finished The Children of Cloverly today. Don’t worry I’m not crazy, just about books! The Lamplighter Summer reading challeng is almost over and I’m cramming in as many points as I can!

In science I learned about some cool recycled creations. A bag woven of cany wrapper, and a chair of old bycicle parts were super cool! I’d like to make something like that someday!

8/23/18

I went to the store with mom today and got Adi a birthday present. Tomottow is her birthday! She’ll really like what we got her! I’ll add a pic of them wrapped. (I did the wrapping!)

Today I finished writing my memoir. I posted it on the blog already. It’s called Caketastriphe! The True Story. From the name you can probably guess it’s funny. I like the ending, and it was interesting to write.

8/24/18

Today was Adi’s birthday! I didn’t exactly do school, so my journal’s gonna be shorter. I played with her a lot of the morning. (Barbies) And while she and mom had a special lunch I did some school. I started a new history book and I love it! It is about Archimeties. I read about the “Eureka” moment, and all of the curcumstance. It was really fun!

Caketastrophe! The True Story

Everybody had already gotten a piece of cake, and we were talking as we ate them. Then Reed pointed out the cake. The top layer had slid off! Everybody else laughed, but I didn’t. I remembered last year.

I sat on the dirty floor. Soon my friends came up. “Are you ok?” One asked. I don’t remember what I said, but I was upset. After a bunch of build-up, and telling my friends there was a surprise inside, it was ruined. Adi, my little sister, went to the kitchen to get the cake. “No!” I cried, rushing in to see it drop. As I stared at the crumbled cake, the product of hours of work, rolling, dying, and decorating. On the floor. I ran off angry at the stricken face of my sister, where my friends found me on the hard floor of the sunroom. When we got back to the kitchen dad cut off the bottom of the cake, and we ate some. After my double layer, I had an ice cream cake that got burnt and freezer burn, after which I declared I should try cupcakes!

Falsely Accused
