Week 6, Just for Kicks

9/3/18

Whoopie! Labor Monday! Today we hung out. I did a bit of school, but most of it I’ll do tomorrow. I had an awesome Labor day weekend!

Today I started writing a mystery. For a while now I’ve wanted to write one, and I got a few ideas this morning, so I wrote them down for “when I write that mystery.” But later when I was talking to mom I just blurted out that I was going to write one and sat down to start it.

9/4/18

I had more school today than normal because of yesterday. But after the long weekend I was on task so I finished early anyway. Today I finished my favorite history book. It was about Archemedes, one of my favorite historical figures.

I compared The Thief and Going Solo, two adventure books I read for school. It’s probably part of my pre-writing for an english assignment. (Turns out, oddly enough, it was.)

9/5/18

Today Adi was sick. So I took a lot of breaks to play with her. I did finish a lot of school though.I started a new book in history. It’s about Ida Scudder, who was a missionary to Africa. I like it.

I made the outline for my comparison contrast essay today. It took a long time, but I got some cool new ideas. I think it’ll turn out well, I start writing tomorrow! Yay!

9/6/18

Today I volunteered at Call Mall. It was fun. I also went with mom on errands so I am just finnishing school. (7:22 PM) I want to be done!

I am enjoying Algebra because I don’t actually have to do the math. Just the formulas, I use a calculator for the actual math part. I don’t get why everybody’s afraid of Algebra. It’s fun.

9/7/18

I didn’t finish all of my school today because today I went to our rental house and tried to do school there. Usually it’s easier to do school there because with everybody working it’s more quiet. But today we met dad and I also couldn’t do some things because I didn’t have wi-fi, but I finished most of my school. In math negatives seriously made me cry. (When you have a plus sign you should add not subtract!) I don’t mind -X, as long as I remember it’s negative, but the rest is so confusing!

Today in science my experiment was to make a robot hand. There were instructions, and I made it of cardboard, straws, tape and string. We ran out of tape, (At our rental house. Yes, I DID bring the tape with me, but I didn’t check to see if it was full.) so we got some at the store. It really works, I picked up some things with it, and it’s super cool! (I came up with a new model to try that’s going to be awesome and make it even easier to pick stuff up!) I will post a pic of it!

Homeschool Journal 2018-2019 Week 2

We went to Speech and Debate Camp Monday-Wednesday and I did not do any other school those days. We got 24 hours learn time. Thursday and Friday I did days 1 and 2 of Week 2. I learned about Christopher Columbus and human leukocyte antigens in history.

Week 2: Doodle Doo

No, I didn’t learn about chickens in science. But this week was fun. Although not as fun as last week, and I kept on going to doctor appointments. You’ll see the trend.

8/6/18

Today I had an orthodontist appointment. Afterwards we went to the library and the bank. So I got behind and didn’t catch up.

In math I learned aobut Algebra Notation, which was new. It got a little complicated, but it was mostly good. It also got tall, with fractions on top of fractions. But I liked using a dot for multiplactation!

8/7/18

I had a dentist appiontment today. Yes, while my teeth still hurt from yesterday. It wasn’t too bad, but Adi got her first cavity! It is sad, she gets it filled in September. I can’t believe I didn’t tell you yesterday! I’m getting my braces off in eight weeks! I can’t wait!

Today I rewrote the Greek Myth of Orion the hunter. It was pretty easy gut fun. I tryed a new POV, Narator. It was a really easy way to do it quickly, and mad it a lot simpler because I don’t know the characters well enough to do a good POV for any of them.

I did art today, and it was fun! I will attach pictures of today’s and last weeks at the end of the post. I have been drawing things in my room lately.

8/8/18

It’s the eighth day of the eighth month of two-thousand and eighteen, and also my eighth day of school!

We went with mom to a doctor appointment, (Can’t get away from ’em) but I’m still on time! (I brought school.) So yay!

In science I finished early so I started working on my own robot. I forgot to telll you I made a robot arm for extra credit yesterday! Well, today I made the base, then I’m gonna add the arm and a ttach a motor. After that I’ll work on a sensor. I’m excited!

I edited my story about Orion the hunter. It was fun, and didn’t take too long! I liked making it go from ok to great! A little bit of word choice and sentence structure goes a loong way!

Exchange student coming tomorrow!!! YAY!!

8/9/18

Today I did another science experiment. I pretty much made slime wil borax this time. It was supposed to be like Frubber, a fake robot skin I learnded about. But it was pretty boring.

I didn’t have Enlish today because I finished it yesterday. Current Events was a little hard. I got an A+ in math. I’m doing speed and distance problems now. No trains yet!

8/10/18

Today I barely had any school. There’s not much to do on Fridays. But I did have a ton of fun finishing up the newpaper! I added a comic, and some interviews! I will post pics of it. It looks really clean! I had a math test today. I did pretty good. Next Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday I am going to be at speech and debate camp. I’m not looking forward to it! We are getting to know David, which is fun! We had a picnic lunch at the park and then went to the pool.

Homeschool Journal 5/24/18

Mom thought we were on a different day yesterday so she did a week of most subjects. All we had today were poems, some history, and Read-Aloud (which we’re behind on anyway). We read a poem about there not being a road in the woods anymore and some weird ones by William Butler Yeats (which rhymes with hates, strangely). In history we learned about “Hitler’s Rise to Power.” He was born in Austria but considered himself German. He also thought Jews were evil because during World War 1 he saw some Germans not support the war. He decided that foreigners must be spreading unpatrioticness, especially Jews. We also learned about 1930’s politics in Spain.

Homeschool Journal 5/23/18

In Bible we read Esther 4 without the rest of the book and Job chapters 1, 38, and 40 also without the rest of the book. In History we learned about the Great Depression. Our books did not tell us this but they used to call depressions “panics” or the like. They came up with “depression” during the Great Depression as a gentler term. We also overviewed fascism. Wall Street was named for the wall that was built along it to protect Dutch settlers (back when New York was still Dutch) from Native Americans and Englishmen.

Homeschool Journal 5/22/18

Hey! Mom hurt her back last night so we didn’t do History, Bible, Poems, or Read Aloud. Dad came home early to take her to the chiropractor. I finished math in a half hour. My Missions Trip team meeting is tonight! I am so excited! Also I am working on a really cool project, I am making a Television Series with some friends. Our first episode should be finished sometime in August. So exciting!

In LA I had a lot of work to do. All I had to do yesterday was chose a book, but today was different. I had to read the book several times, write notecards, and practice telling the story. It took me a very long time! I read more of The Hobbit today. All I have to say is, Why didn’t they stay on the path???? They were warned several times, and weren’t they told there was nothing good to eat in the forest? Seriously.

Homeschool Journal 5/8/18

Today I didn’t finish school. We leave on a two-week road trip in four days and I just started packing today. We also went on a bunch of errands so I didn’t really have time to do anything after lunch. In fact it is after eight PM right now. So you can see how my day is going, I have had a very bad day over all. We read poems by Rudyard Kipling. They were actually pretty good. I didn’t know that he was born in India. In Bible we switched to Nehemiah when we were in the middle of Revalation yesterday. It was odd.

We read about the first king of Egypt in history. 1000 men and women fought for freedom. It was one of the first with women involved. Tyranny never works. When they got their freedom they had 101 gun salutes they were so happy! Power struggles ruin lives, countries, and untimatly the world.
