Homeschool Journal 10/30/17

We are back again. Already! It seems like the weekend only lasts 5 hours. And I did three math lessons this weekend. Oh well-they do say time flies when your having fun… (And not expecting/looking forward to something.)

In English I learned about different types of pronouns. Then I found and named the type of pronoun in a paragraph, explained why it was that type, and wrote a sentence using each type of pronoun. Then I added prefixes to words to make them a different type of word. I changed verbs into nouns, nouns into adjectives, and adjectives into nouns. I had to do two spelling days today.

Down to the Basics: Public Safety

It’s that time again, budgeting time. The manager of Little Rock is implying that the 2018 budget will be favoring public safety. The budget is going to majorly work on the police’s needs in the new year. The police are asking about getting new car radios, they are hiring to fill positions, and thinking about making a few new part-time positions to help with accidents. They say that their main priority is public safety, so the budget is likely going to be giving the police many  their budget wishes. They are going down to the basics in budget, and one of their basics is public safety.

JUDGE SAYS THAT PROPOSED REVISION OF STATE LAW AGAINST BEGGING IS STILL UNCONSTITUTIONAL

U.S. District Judge Billy Wilson said that the proposed revision of the Arkansas state law banning begging is still illegal like the current law as in it breaks the 1st and 14th amendments to the constitution which state that laws can’t “restrict expression because of its message, its ideas, its subject matter, or its content,” unless it breaks other laws such as impending the flow of traffic or harassment.

TRUMP PROMISES TO TALK WITH DEMOCRATS

President of the Unites States Donald Trump promised to speak with Democrats about healthcare and it’s current system, set up by former president Barrack Obama, called the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Trump has recently failed in Senate to repeal it as all Democratic and three Republican Senators are against repealing it and one Senator for it was in the hospital when the vote happened and is now at home recovering. Trump says they will retry when he is healthy.

TRUMP INTRODUCES NEW TAX BILL

On September 27 President of the United States Donald Trump spoke at the Indiana State Fair about his new tax plan, featuring three instead of seven tax brackets and an elimination of some taxes, he did not mention how much it would cost the government. Many taxes would be lowered especially for businesses and most inheritance taxes would end. Federal estate taxes would also end. Democratic leaders say that the plan would benefit the upper class too much while barely affecting lower and middle class people and that it would be very good for Trump’s private businesses and customers. The current tax brackets are: 10%, 15%, 25%, 28%, 33%, 35%, and 39.6% and the new ones would be: 12%, 25%, 35%.

Homeschool Journal 10/23/17

Today we started at nine. We read online that for Middle School and High School it is best to start at nine or later so that they get enough sleep. So I don’t start school until nine, and I am supposed to finish at three. If that could only actually happen that would be great!

In Bible we read about Nathaniel saying no good thing comes out of Nazareth. I wonder what it was about Nazareth. Did something bad happen there? Or is there some other thing we don’t know about. Then, right after he says that and goes to meet Jesus, Jesus sees him coming and says that he is a good Jew and has no gile. Gile means unrighteousness. (I asked.) I don’t get what that is all about.

Today I am going to have my twin come over for a sleepover. Due to being safe I am not going to use her real name, and because of the fact that we are almost twins and we have similar names I am going to just call her my twin. She is going to come over for a sleepover tonight and I am so excited!!! Mom told me about it just yesterday. She is coming over because one of her siblings has an activity tomorrow and we are going to have a ton of fun. I can’t wait!

I history we learned about croissants. There was a siege on a French city and they were digging tunnels under the city. Everybody was told to listen and warn people if they made it into the city. Two bakers were making bread in the morning and one of them heard them. He yelled and some soldiers came and fought them in the tunnels. They ended up winning the war. It is said that the bakers made croissants to celebrate that day.

Today a private school friend of mine came and did school with us for a while. She said she wished she could be homeschooled the day before, after she had told us she didn’t have to go to school today and tomorrow because of parent teacher conferences. That was the beginnings of a brilliant idea. I invited her to do school with us today, and she still liked the idea of homeschooling at the end. (Lots of people get wrong ideas of homeschooling-many think I don’t do school at all and play all day.) It was fun. It is a lot better doing school if you are doing it with friends.

I wrote a pretend newspaper article about something in one of my books that I had to read. I will type it up and put it here.
