The Phoenicians used the Amarix snail for the dye they are named for “Purple Men”. The Babylonians were taken over by the Kassites before the Assyrians took over Babylon. Babylonians in the second greatness of their city tried to tell the future through the insides of dead animals. We read 11 poems about random things. In Science we read about Pet Cams, convergence, HUD and E-voting.

NEW LIMITS FOR POLICE TAKE-HOME VEHICLES

The Little Rock Police Department is taking another look at their take-home vehicle plan. 75% of the cars are taken out of the city and some are taken dozens of miles away. This defeats the purpose of being able to have a ready to respond on-duty and off-duty officer at any time.

In History I learned about the Minoans on Crete who became Greece. They were called after a supposedly evil king they had at first. They had a sport called bull jumping and they put gold on the bull horns. In the sport you had to grab the horns, jump onto the bull’s back and do acrobatic stunts. Vella was sick today and skipped school. In my experiment I had to put pepper in water and see what would happen when I put a drop of soapy water on the side of the cup. It instantaneously pushed all the pepper to the opposite cup and made them start to sink. In The Children’s Bible Field Guide I had to make a good news bad news story about a Genesis 25-50 story and put it my Journal. I am doing Jacob and Esau in second person to Jacob.

Bad News: You were born

Good News: You have a brother

Bad News: You are destined to fight all your life with him.

Good News: You trade food for his birthright

Bad News: You have to trick your father for it

Good News: You get it

Bad News: Your brother wants to kill you

Good News: Your mother tells you and you run away.

In both of our History books we read today we learned about the second rise of Babylon and King Nebuchadnezzar. We also learned about The Hanging Gardens of Babylon he built. We read four poems about spring, Easter and rain. In Science we learned about the fossil record of dinosaurs some displays in museums showing the evolution of dinosaurs but they did not show that they had not actually found the fossils they say evolved into dinosaurs. We started school late today. In The Children’s Bible Field Guide we had to research Ancient Egypt and say what we found most interesting and I think that their farming, farming seasons and the Nile flooding every year is interesting. In all of our books they say the Nile flooded every year but in all the possibly 20 books I have read that say that they never say why it floods every year at the same time. Mom thinks it is because of rain but it steadily rises until it overflows.

Did you know that some pterosaurs were about as big as a fighter jet? They were, and it was amazing. These huge, fish eating, winged creatures with tales and big beaks were not the type to mess with. Swooping and soaring through the air, diving to get a mouthful of nice fish, these mammoth creatures were strong, athletic dinosaurs, so why did they go extinct? My personal outlook on this was that the flood caused it, it could of been the reason that dinosaurs were wiped out, I thought. But God didn’t have it happen that way, the Bible says in Genesis 6:19-20 “You are to bring into the ark two of all living creatures, male and female, to keep them alive with you. Two of every kind of bird, of every kind of animal and of every kind of creature that moves along the ground will come to you to be kept alive.” And in Job, a dinosaur was mentioned, so it didn’t happen at the flood, so what did happen to the dinosaurs? The plain and simple answer to that question is……………………….. I shouldn’t tell you, never mind people, this was just a big hoax to get you really interested in reading my journals, you have wasted your time, no not really. The plain and simple answer is…………………………………………………………….. maybe I’ll tell you after you comment your thoughts, I wouldn’t want to ruin the surprise… because I truly don’t know the answer.

In History we learned about the second rise of the Assyrians and Ashurbanipal. Ashurbanipal built the first library. We read five poems about wind and other things. In Science we learned about the fossil record of pterosaurs. The largest they found was bigger than a F-4E Phantom II fighter jet.

In Bible we started 1 Corinthians. In The Children’s Bible Field Guide we studied the last half of Genesis. In History we learned about the Phoenicians and Carthage. We read five poems about months and Valentines Day. In Science we learned about the fossil record of pinnipeds. Pinnipeds are things like seals and sea lions. Seals can dive 5,000 feet and sea lions 800.

Muslim men can have four wives because Jacob did.

Today we learned about sea lions, and seals. Did you know seals can dive six-times deeper than a submarine, and it can also hold its breath for two whole hours!!!! What amazing animals God has made!!!!!! If we were at church somebody would be saying amen at that, because you really can’t disagree.

I was learning about demonstrative adjectives, and indefinite adjectives. I had to find the demonstrative adjective in my dictation passage for this week. I also found the demonstrative adjective in their sentence, it’s underlined. Then I had to write a sentence or two using both a demonstrative adjective, and an indefinite adjective. It was pretty easy, and it didn’t take long. Now I am going to go play chess with Reed.

We are learning about Egypt in history right now. The pharaohs were awesome fighters, one pharaoh, Tuthmosis the 3rd led his army into 17 battles!!! The houses in Egypt were made out of bricks as you probably already know because of the Bible, but did you know that they had guards at the gates?

We learned about mice, and new blue tooth pieces in science today. There is a watch that tells you your texts, and who’s calling you, as well as the time. They have wireless mice, I thought that it would be an awesome practical joke. You can click on things, zoom in, zoom out and such from the other room!!! It would be so funny.

Blind Ballet

A blind singer is taking ballet to help her on the stage. It is hard for her, but she continues on enjoying the challenge. She of course needed private lessons, and the teaching method is very different, her teachers have to move her to the correct positions, even 1st position is a bit of a challenge. So it’s different but 40 year old Elizabeth Whitaker is trying hard, and picks things up quickly. Her teacher has studied at Shuffles and Ballet II, (Where I go!) under Miss Tracy, and Miss Jana, (Two of my teachers last year!!!) and at Ballet Arkansas, (It’s their Nutcracker I’m in!) with Kirt and Linda Hathaway. Mala, her teacher also has a University of Oklahoma degree in ballet performance. All this should help her on stage, may she reach her goal.
