Hello Vella Karman here, a homeschooled 11 year old. I am in 6th grade. I like to dance ballet, especially point, and I also write my own stories. I can't see what I am doing in ballet but I can feel the beauty of it, and I praise God with it. Maybe later I will post some of my stories, I want people to see my work but I am afraid they will think it's terrible and say I am awful at writing. But I still want your comments even if that's what you have to say, I'll try not to take it personally, I am looking for constrictive criticism so say what you really think.

Yep it’s spring break and we are doing school, ugh. Sometimes I wish more than anything I went to public school, it would be so easy. We read about the birth of Samuel in Bible. It is amazing they didn’t ween their children until they were 6 years old!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Samson was married with a Philistine, that didn’t end well. It says God’s spirit came upon him before he killed all those people so it seems as if that was, God’s plan?

In history we learned about Marco Polo. In China they had ten-pound pairs!!! Ice cream was also started in China. Did you know that Mandarin Chinese is the servants language? His father went away before he was born and came back when he was 15 and took him away to China, mom thought that would be awful for the mom.

Guns and Churches, Mixed?!?!?

In Arkansas, guns are now allowed on collage campuses, though not in dorms or at grief meeting. They are also now allowed in churches, and public buildings that don’t have a sign prohibiting carrying guns. You have to carry a conceal gun licence and you can carry a gun. It had a hard time getting through, they wanted to add on more prohibitions but it passed without any more. So we will see how this new law will be put to use in the future.

Today we read about Samson in the Bible. Isn’t it amazing that he carried something the weight of an actual van, not a mini-van uphill for miles while being chased!!!

We read about the Monguls in history. Their enemies were so afraid of them that they wouldn’t even fight, one time a Mongul road up and 17 Monguls tied themselfs up because he told them to. Isn’t that amazing!!!

We read a poem called something like this, Da Boyee Fom Rome. I liked it and it was funny to listen to Mom try to pronounce it, I said I liked it and Mom said I should memorize it for something coming up for school. I like the poem but my Italian accent is not really an accent it is more of an awful mispronounciation, I’m just that good.

We read about the history of something we read about in a historical fiction book. We also read about what happened to the Jews after the book finished.

In science we learned that the Chinese are really worried about counter-fitting, we also learned about passports and airplane security. Did you know X-rays can’t go through metal? We also learned about atoms. Did you know there is a nucleus in an atom? Okay, that was totally sarcastic.

We read about Gideon in Bible. He destroyed the alter of Baal and God saved him from death. We read poems about freedom, I believe it is about the revolution. We read one about Daniel Boone too, it is quite a long poem, not as long as The Lady of Shallot.

We read about Robin Hood in history, that is one of my favorite folk tales. I would hate living under the feudal system, you would always be under someones control and in dept. We also learned more about the “struggle for Spain.” We learned about the Moors, if there was an E before the S then they would be related to us but they aren’t. Isn’t it fun to say Grenada?

Homeschool Journal 3/10/17

We read about Deborah in Bible. They won against the kings. God always keeps His promises like the song, “Promise Maker, Promise Keeper.” We read some really really weird poems about Billy and somebody. It rhymed so it wasn’t soo bad. We read a ton more about kids that were weird.

I have to write a SciFi story for school. SciFi isn’t my genre, I can’t wait to be done with it and school in general. I read more about Japan’s history, they copied China for a really long time. I wouldn’t have wanted to live in Japan then. Adi and I had a picnic at the gardens, a gazebo is next to the gardens and we ate and played there while Reed and Mom put more cardboard down. I made chocolates with marshmallow in the center for Purim, I can’t wait for Purim it is one of the celebratory Jewish feasts. Purim is on Sunday.

No Selling Notes?

Online websites that encourage learning have been paying for collage student’s notes. But Arkansas Universities aren’t sure whether to allow it or not. Different teachers and collages have different ideas on it, and some students have gotten in trouble for being “notetakers.” Some websites want the students to upload quizzes and tests as well. We will see what gets decided in the UA schools.

We read poems about birds today. We learned more about the different states of matter. We went to the gardens and put cardboard around our plot to keep to weeds from growing. I made a pulley system to open my door, turn on my light, and turn off my light from my bed depending on which one it is set up for at the moment. Dad came home early because Mom went to the chiropractor at 3:30 p.m.
