Homesick

Homesick is technically a fiction book. It is an autobiography of a author, who filled in blank spots in her memory with fiction. She grew up in China, but was of American blood and American upbringing, until she was 12. At that point the Communists tried to take over China and foreigners were ordered to leave.

The main character is very spoiled and the book does not acknowledge that. She is overly American and seems to want to change “foreign” to “almighty american”. She even hates China and Britain because they aren’t american.

Today is Saturday and I did school because I am behind. I did 19 things today and left eight things to do tomorrow. I read about the Forbidden City. It was just an Inner City that the emperor lived in and they wouldn’t let peasants into.

I am doing a current event on John Moore in the USS Razorback. I have to write about a pretend person in another country and culture. I was about to figure out his name when I had to finish school. I wrote a letter to Michael.

I learned what a rectangular prism is, it is just a 3-D rectangle like a long cube.

Today is Friday and I feel sick today so I only did a little school today. I learned a Chinese game called fishing with paper dominos. It was hard to learn. The whole game Vella and I were stealing a civil pair back and forth.

We were out most of the morning, we went to the bank, library and the ballet store for Vella.

VALLEY FIRE DEVASTATES

The Valley Fire in Middletown CA has destroyed 600 houses and dislocated 13,000 people so far, 9,000 more homes are threatened. only one person was killed. A 72 year old woman with MS who was not able to exit as the fire enveloped her house.

People in the area have said that “the fire season used to be to be confined, now it’s year round.” Rain is on the way but that and the 1,200 firefighters fighting the fire will probably do little to stop the fire.
