NEW HABITAT FOR THE MEDITERANIAN

From the Gorges Crab in 1898 to the Devil Fire fish in 2011 the Mediterranean is teeming with life, life that is supposed to be thousands of miles away.

Invasive species are popping up in the Mediterranean from oceans around the world, including dangerous species such as the Cardinal blowfish whose poison can cause paralyses. Some species are not directly dangerous like the rabbit fish which eats algae. Harmless right? Wrong, it reproduces like, you guessed it, a rabbit. Schools of it eats all the algae in a very large area and destroys the habitat. Researchers have identified the expansion of the Suez Canal as the problem.

For the underwater photography industry “it is a present” but scientists think that soon the Mediterranean will have a new habitat and that all it’s old creatures will become extinct from the area. Also it will not be a popular tourist destination anymore.

Homeschool Journal 9/3/15

We read a poem about a dog today.

We spent from 9:00-1:00 involving the Moix’s “Not Back To School Bash” so we could not do school. Papa came home for lunch today!

We learned that there is no way to hold your breath to die because you will pass out. Also that the lungs are the only organ light enough to float. I thought your brain was too.

Homeschool Journal 9/2/15

We learned about the Kalam argument today its three points are…

  1. Everything that has a beginning has a cause.
  2. The universe has a beginning.
  3. The universe has a cause.

We backed it up and it is valid argument.

China has five sacred mountains.

I did not know alveoli were little bags, I thought they were like cilia!

Homeschool Journal 9/1/15

I started a new disk on math today. I learned what I have wanted to learn for while. The quicker way to convert fractions to decimals.

We learned about Taiyuan today in 100 Gateway Cities. At one point it had 27 temples dedicated to the god of war!

Your right lung is bigger than your left lung because your left lung has a dent in it for your heart to fit in your body.

The House of Sixty Fathers

The House of Sixty Fathers is about a boy named Tien Pao. He lives in China during WW2. His village is destroyed by Japanese fighters. He and his family are the only survivers. Taking someone else’s sampan found floating on the ocean during the attack they rowed upstream as far as they could go. And there his parents found work. On only the second day, while his parents were out at work with their baby, he and the family pig are yelling and running around in the sampan it becomes untied to the mooring and the river takes him all the way back to his village, being guarded by Japanese soldiers. He makes his way slowly back to the city he came from.

Along the way he saves and travels with a soldier. With and without his friend he makes his way back to his city. Which at the moment he gets there being attacked by the Japanese!

Everything vital seems to support cells. Eating, breathing and your heart beating all support cells.

I read ahead in my book so today I wrote a book report on it.

ROCK REGION METRO: NEW NAME AND NEW BUSES

The former Central Arkansas Transit Authority (CATA(CAT) has been experiencing some reorganization. After changing their name to Rock Region Metro they hired Jarod Varner to reconstruct the system.

First step ride the bus. He started by talking to people after a little research he found people didn’t like the diesel buses, so six months later there were 15 brand-new eco-friendly buses with wifi and GPS system online so riders could see in real time where they were.

Today

Today I felt sick. I woke with gas and ran to the bathroom. I went back to bed. Then I got out of bed to eat breakfast and do school which I could not stay focused on. I tried to do school until lunch. I ate lunch and did most of what I could in school. I went up to my room to take a nap. I woke up and Pokemon battled myself a little bit (I was winning), sat up to long and laid back down. Mom came up and talked with me. Then I made a magic labyrinth course and ate dinner. Then I wrote this.

Homeschool Journal 8/17/15

We did Bible first today. We learned about Lanzhou it is covered in a haze of sand and pollution. It has a low literacy and a high poverty rate. The first written history of China was on bones during the Shang    dynasty. Two cultures, the Longshan and the Yangshao formed together to make China. Both the cultures were farmers. In Confucius’s time instead of his practices they used magic.

We learned about The dynasties of China.

I lost my vocabulary vine book and we have not gotten my book from the library, so I did not do those subjects.

Week 2 Current Event

PRE-SHOCKER EARTHQUAKE HITS HAYWARD FAULT

On Tuesday, July 21 a magnitude 4.0 earthquake hit the San Francisco Bay Area. Scientists say that there is a 42% chance of at least a magnitude 7.2 earthquake to hit in the next 30 years. The area has history for earthquakes. A big one usually happens every 90-140 years. This year its been 147.

An earthquake over magnitude 6.0 can be dangerous if near a city. Although the most likely thing to happen to any given person is a shortage of supplies. The best you can do to be prepared for an earthquake (because they are one of the hardest to predict weather predicaments) is stock up on bottled water and dried food, not be afraid and know if you’re on a fault line.
