Homeschool Journal 9/19/17

Today we went on field trip to mom’s womens study. It was fun, we played in there playroom. (It was at a family friends house.) But, between that, playing a game of chess, and going to the library I didn’t get all of my school done. After I got back from ballet, ate dinner, and showered I did more school so all I have left to do tomorrow is math, Bible, and electives.

In English I learned more about character development. I learned about all the ways they make the characters seem real. How they act, react, how others talk about them, and how others act towards them all make them seem more real and add up to make their character. So it is sort of more complicated than just describing them in more detail.

Today I got a package that had not given me all that was paid for. I got two of the thing! Isn’t that so cool! I am so excited! Mom went for a Khols interview today and she got the job? Isn’t that exciting! And she might not be a seasonal employee! She is going to have a thousand times better work hours though!

Did you know that the East India Company ruled/was the government for India? Crazy isn’t it? I thought they were just the missionary heads!

Religion has caused so many battles, revolts, riots, and even wars! About half the wars fought were caused by the clashing of different religions, and rulers taking sides didn’t help either! The other half were caused by greed. Greed is obviously wrong, but what about religion? Religion is not wrong, but forcing religion on someone is wrong, and that is almost what started all of the wars on religion. We ought to have learned not to do that by now, don’t you think?

In Algebra 1 I had a test about inequalities. In History we learned about the fall of the Mogul emperors and the start of the Dutch East India Company. For my Science experiment I needed empty soda cans but on our diet we can’t have any so we gave some to our neighbors to get the cans. In Bible was Jesus arrested, Peter’s denial and the woman with the alabaster box of perfume. Jesus said she would be told about wherever the gospel was preached when people criticized her. Over the weekend I read the rest of Genesis and three chapters of Exodus.

Today we are doing a Mondays work on a  Fridays schedule. I know that seems confusing, and trust me it is. (I keep on thinking it is an actual Monday and then I think well it was Friday yesterday and yesterday I was thinking that if we could skip work that day we could be on the right day then… Today is a Friday!) It is getting me all mixed up! We went on a field trip and saw dad at lunch and then went to the store.

Today I started a brand new reader. It is called homesick and it is the Fictionalized story of Jean Fritz, written, by Jean Fritz, and fictionalized, by Danny Gofer… Just kidding, it was fictionalized by Jean Fritz too. I don’t think I quite like it. It is not… Well… Something that I would read otherwise… Like… It would be a book that I pick up at the library and less than halfway through realize that, as a Christian I shouldn’t read this. Seriously, I am sort of concerned.

I feel better today and I think everyone else does too. We are going to meet Dad at his work at lunch today. In Algebra 1 I learned about systems of two variable inequalities. They skipped teaching me how to do it without the graph like they usually do and went right to it. In The BBC Manual we read about tools for memorization and meditation and how to use Strong’s Bible Concordance. In the real Bible Jesus talked about the end of the world and it sounded like Revelation. We have not done The Ghost of Tokaido Inn yet and we do not have poems. Yesterday I read the rest of Genesis 5 I had not read. I also read How to Betray a Dragon’s Hero, the eleventh and second to last book in the How to Train Your Dragon series.

I wrote a journal for this day. But it has apparently been erased! I don’t think it will be fair if I have to write it again!!! So here is some of what I remember writing. (I added in/took out some things.)

Today I have a fever, a small sore throat, and a cold. I still did school. It was a Fridays work anyway.

Science took forever! I had to read about nine pages! They were mostly pictures but there was some small print about copywrite that was very boring and seems to take forever if you would rather be doing something else.

Today we still all feel bad but yesterday we finished the day’s work that we worked on for three days so we started a new day but I had already done most of it so all I had today was to finish Algebra 1 (only had to do 5 questions today), finish typing my Current Events (I had done one and half of three yesterday so I had the same today), take my Bible Memory test, finish writing my English assignment, take a test for Module 2 in Science and write this. We still have to do The Ghost of Tokaido Inn. Yesterday I finished Mark Twain A Reader and started The Bible (NIV translation) and How to Betray A Dragon’s Hero.

US PLANS FOR MILITARY ACTION AGAINST NORTH KOREA WHILE SOUTH KOREA WANTS SAY AND RUSSIA ADVISES AGAINST IT

Russian President Vladimir Putin has put down the military threats between the US and North Korea as unnecessary and says the countries should work out a peaceful solution. North Korea has recently claimed testing of a hydrogen bomb. South Korea has held many military drills including with planes, tanks and ships against North Korea. Allies South Korea and the US have agreed to pressure North Korea into ending it’s nuclear and missile programs. South Korea advised against attacking North Korea yet and claimed to have the right to veto any military action by the US against North Korea in the future and now. The US threatened to end any trade with countries still trading with North Korea including China.

Today I am better in the throat but still sore, and I am congested. I went on a field trip to watch Adi’s gymnastics. It was ok. We didn’t really do school today. I finished a math lesson and that is pretty much it. I played with Adi. I am going to youth group now. It is a ton of fun.
