Homeschool Journal 9/29/17

Today mom went to Kohl’s for orientation so dad worked from home. Reed and dad left for a scouts campout at about four thirty and Adi isn’t feeling well. I am behind on school but I am going to catch up this weekend. Next week is Succot, it is a jewish holiday where you live in a temporary dwelling for a week. We are going to take off school during the time, (it is a Wednesday to a Wednesday) and go on a week long camping trip at Mnt. Magizine. It is going to be a ton of fun, other than we have to bring the dogs, and I am going to miss all of ballet except for Nutcracker rehearsals. (If I miss more than two they may replace me!) But I am going to take extra classes at different times to make up for it.

Math is not very fun. (As always.) But I am getting good grades. And at least we are getting to where we left off last year. (That means that I don’t have to listen to “refresher” lessons at least.) Maybe I can start “algebra” it’s not really algebra but more introducing the concept of it. But it is fun. (For math.)

You think in the Bible they might figure out not to take censuses. We read about the man who God promised he would see Jesus before he died. We also read the part about the prophetess who prophesied about Jesus right after the man gets to hold Him. I didn’t realize Jesus was my age when He went to the temple. That’s cool. I wonder how much Jesus understood, I mean did He know that His parents didn’t know he was the Christ? How about understanding people talking ect when He was a baby? How can Jesus increase in favor of God and man? Doesn’t it say you can’t earn His favor? But then again that is we can’t, who says Jesus can’t? Did you realize all the crazy town names are names after rulers ect?

Today was a crazy day. I thought that I didn’t need to do school for some crazy reason so I didn’t and ended up getting behind. We didn’t go to the Bible study so we aren’t going to go to it at all, (long story) but we did go to the library and then I went to ballet so I really didn’t get everything done. Including this journal, if you didn’t notice, (and I would be suspicious if you did sense I am assuming none of you are spies or stalking me) it is actually Thursday rather than Tuesday now.

I started math today. But I didn’t finish it. Math is not very fun, and I would prefer not to do it on Saturday. But I might have to. Sadly.

I didn’t do any science today. (I had to do a lot on Wednesday.) I have to be reading the book I’m reading on Evolution until week nine at the least.

NORTH KOREA LAUNCHES SECOND MISSILE INTO OCEAN

North Korea launched another missile into the North Pacific Ocean September 15. It flew approximately 2,300 miles, the longest flight of any past North Korean missile. Similar to the last one about a month ago it went over Japan setting off alarms and warning text messages. There was no known damage caused. North Korea has been considering the US troops stationed in South Korea and Japan “hostility”.

Banned

Trump has banned travel to the US on varying levels for eight other countries unless under certain circumstances. He put out new security measures and if they refused to commit to them or couldn’t meet the requirements most of their citizens aren’t going to be able to travel to the US for a while. Several countries didn’t meet the requirements at first, but found a way to meet them in the fifty-day span they were given and now they can travel to the US. So if you are from Chad, Iran, North Korea, Syria, Libya, Yemen, or Somalia you might want to rethink that vacation.

Today we are going to go shopping at one. So I am doing my school early. I didn’t start early I just worked really hard to get it done. So yes, it is before lunch fight now. Adi went over to a friends for a playdate and she will be gone until lunch. Yesterday I had my first Nutcracker rehearsal!!! And yes, I am aware that it is still September. We start early. It was a to of fun, I already knew my “sister” in my “family.” It is so cool and awesome, I am going to have so much fun!!!

Math was ok. My lesson was titled “Quilts.” Seriously, yesterday I learned about eating right. They start by telling me about the subject, and then they turn it into math. I had to figure out how many inches of thread they would need for a quilt, how many squares were on the sides… So it was still math, but the lessons weren’t as boring.

Today we started reading Luke for our together Bible reading. We are reading through it fast. I am working on getting better at typing, I have to think about  it a lot or my fingers type the words I use a lot instead of the words I was thinking or get them in the wrong order. I hope by the end of the year I will be good enough to transcribe! But who knows, I have a lot of time before then.

I like drawing. I think I would like to make a comic some time. I drew a sort of comic today of a tomato rolling her eyes. Yes, it was recognizable as a tomato. And yes, you could tell it was a girl. And yes, you can tell she is rolling her eyes. (After I tell you, but granted it looks like that after you know.)

I did Writers Inc. today and it was cool. I think I need to make my writing clearer, I am so busy getting all the ideas I have in the story and on paper that it gets a little bit muddled… Well, if you have any other tips on how I could improve my writing please comment.

Today I didn’t have any LA because I already did it yesterday before we decided to do the day befores’ work. However you pluralize that? Before doesn’t exactly have possesion… If you know please comment! ‘Cause I don’t!

I wrote a current event on an airport making more handicapped parking spaces today. (It is titled “Lend a Hand to the Handicapped” if you would like to read it.) I learned how to spell handicapped. It is crazy the things you don’t realize you don’t know how to spell until you are writing about it on a blog that shows that the word is spelled wrong! Handicapped, I couldn’t spell halloween until last halloween when I wrote about it on the blog. (Speaking of learning how to spell halloween, it is good that I learned it because it was one of my spelling words today! Is that crazy or what?)

Lend a Hand to the Handicapped

The Clinton airport is one of the biggest airports in Arkansas. They were recently inspected, and it was discovered that they didn’t have the required amount of handicap parking. It was  decided they should put most of the handicap parking in one area as well as adding more. Thirty-four parking spaces were added 34, most of them are short-term in the west parking lot. They decided it works best that way because there is not a lot of street traffic on the route they will take to the doors of the airport. They also voted to give the people parking in handicapped spaces the lowest rate possible. At the moment that is $8. So there we have it folks, we are lending a hand to the handicapped!

Today I went with Adi to gymnastics. They got to climb the rope today! Adi already knew she could climb halfway up, (and their ceiling is way higher than a school gym) She climbed probably about 6, 7 ft. up. I know! Is that crazy or what! That girl can climb for a 6 year old! Congrats Adds!! (Adds is my nickname for her.) Since we were really busy yesterday I got to just finish yesterday today. We are finally on the right day of the week now! I only had four subjects but math took a while.

I am reading the Psalms for my on my own school Bible reading. That sounds confusing if you are not familiar with it, it really means that I read it on my own, (as in I read it by myself) but it is for school and I don’t get to pick what I read when. See, it’s really simple but it sounds confusing! I am on Psalm 25. That means I have done 24 days of reading, because I have been doing one chapter a day except for the one day I had to do two. (I don’t know why they had me do two, they just did.)
