Homeschool Journal 9/23/16

We learned about how pharaohs lead their armies into battle even though we learned that they didn’t in other places. We also learned about Egyptian gods. They almost all have animal heads. In the Golden Age of Egypt they made Amun the king of the gods instead of Ra. We also learned about the Canaanites and the Hebrews although I already knew all we learned about them. They had a picture of a cedar tree that does not look like a cedar tree. We read three poems about fairies. In Science we learned about different computer mice, a bunny that tells you e-mails and texts and a new type of E-book that has more memory and a new type of screen. The screen uses electric currents to push objects inside capsules to make different shades of gray as well as black and white. One of the mice was wireless and was charged by it’s mousepad. Another raised dots on itself to do Braille so blind people can read on computers.

LONE ISIS MEMBER ATTACKS IN MINNESOTA

Last Saturday night at a mall in St. Cloud Minnesota an ISIS “soldier” stabbed nine people with a kitchen knife. He was shot and killed by an off duty police officer who was shopping at the mall at the time. No one was killed except the attacker in the incident. It was in coordination with two other attacks in NY and NJ.

Later today I’m going to get my first pair of point shoes!!! My goal for this year is to be better on the stage, and be the best soldier that I can be in the Nutcracker. Not to brag bu the Nutcracker that I’m in is supposed to be the best in the state!!! Maybe that’s why it costs $75 to be in it, and I don’t even get to keep the costume, but it is way more than worth it, my three life dreams are to be on point, be in the Nutcracker, and get one of my books published, and two of those are happening THIS year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today for Bible we had to think of a way that we are like Moses, it took a bit to find something iother than we both have a relationship with God. But I finally came up with the fact that we both inlove people, and we stand up for what we think is right, when I have strong feeling towards something then you don’t want to mess with me, I was the one who got in trouble in preschool for telling kids that Santa wasn’t real, they deserved to know the truth, they shouldn’t have been lied to, and when they find out that they had been lied to by their parents all those years won’t they feel hurt, and like they can’t trust their parents anymore? But no, I am not allowed to simply tell them the truth and save them from that without getting in trouble with the parents, no less. I just wrote this whole  153 word count thing to find out that it was a mistake, and I was supposed to be writing how I am like Abraham. UUUUUUGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am like Abraham because I worry a lot and sometimes doubt God’s plan.

The story of the world said that Moses just told Pharaoh to let the Israelites go it skipped him escaping and the 40 years after, and it missed most of the plagues, including the last one.  I don’t know what Bible their reading, but it sure isn’t the same one I am reading! And this hasn’t been the first time they’ve done it, there has been several other Bible stories gone wrong in the book.

I thought The Kingdom Strikes Back was interesting today. It was talking about Jonah being mad at God for not destroying Nineveh, and they had quite an earful to say about it too. It was as I said, Interesting.

In History of the World we read about Moses they messed some stuff up. For example they said that after he killed the Egyptian he went strait to Pharaoh and told him to let his people go instead of saying he fled because of his death warrant. Moses’s story was during the Golden Age of Egypt. We got to read out our second portion of the year of The Kingdom Strikes Back. It was the entire Old Testament encapsulated. We learned about the Hebrews whole history from a non biblical standpoint today in one of our History books. We read five poems randomly about things and the first was by Shakespeare and it seemed uncharacteristic for him. We had to put in our Journal how we are similar to Abraham and since Mom won’t let me do breathing I did feelings. In our experiment we cut and folded pieces of paper with pictures of water molecules on it so it looks like water but 167 million times bigger and on a paper background.

Today I got to read a bit about Abraham from the Bible and then I wrote a interview with questions that I would ask him, and answered them the way that I thought he would. It was hard, I had quite a time trying to figure out how I thought he would answer some of them. Including; Was it hard tying Isaac up?, Did you ever doubt God’s plan?, and Did you have a religion before you left Ur? So, I/m going to let you ponder over that and deside what you think he would say for yourselfs, because my answers aren’t very good, though my questions are, if I do say so myself. Please comment what you deside on the matter, thanks. Vella

Today we had an assignment to read a bunch of Bible verses with promises in them, and then write in our journal our favorite one. It was a pretty hard choice as it is the Bible and most of it is good, (I used most, because of Job, not that it’s bad in any way but due to the fact that it is mostly sad, and may be interpreted as bad because God lets things happen to Job even though he didn’t do anything wrong, even though it is sort of encouraging in a way because of Job’s courage and  faithfulness towards God even though most would turn away because He let “bad” things happen to them even though they are really good because they bring the greater glory to God.) Now back to the question, I personally liked Isaiah 41:13 myself, here it is: “For I am the Lord, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.”

The ancient city of Ur was in modern-day Iraq, Abram lived in Ur before he knew God. Ur was a port city, and it has been around for a very long time.

In History we learned more about New Egypt. It is considered the Golden Age of Egypt. We read three poems about random things like time being a gypsy man. In Science we learned about the fossil record of fish. The supporters of the fossil record of fish for evolution said it is “shrouded in mystery” on how it supports evolution.

School was okay today, we went to the park and did some school there. It was a ton of fun. It is 3:04 and I am finished with school.

Did you know that there are over a 1,000 clay tablets in one  library in the fertle cresent. Isn’t that cool? It really helps us to learn about the past.

I was learning more about commas and their uses in binder work. There is this really funny book that dad told me about a couple years ago, it is about the importance of using commas the right way. The main thing in it is this: The panda eats, shoots, and leaves. That is the first one, here is the second one: The panda eats shoots and leaves. Aren’t commas amazing!!!
