Summer Journal 6/21/17

Today Reed wan’t feeling well so I did history on my own and we didn’t do science, read aloud or bible.

I did the last quiz in math today so I am done with it for the year, other than summer math. I got an A+ too. I am glad I got an A+ I can’t wait to get my report card. I am glad we don’t do holding back in homeschooling, even though I don’t think I would get held back.

In English I did the pre-writing for a persuasive letter. It is really interesting and I think I will have a lot of fun writing a persuasive letter to “Sarah Sylvia Cynthia Stout” convincing her to “please take the garbage out.”

Homeschool Journals 26-28/17

I did more science without answering the questions these days. We did history and Bible too. We started a new book. It is called the Westing Game, it is a murder mystery and sort of interesting and confusing.

ISIS, in Mosul or No?

ISIS is being pushed out of Mosul, they have been trying to get in even more lately. There was a possible use of chemical weapons on there part. There will be an investigation over the possibility. If so then there will be problems for ISIS with the humane society, and many countries. There has been a war over Mosul for a long long time but maybe this is the beginning of the end.

Homeschool Journal 4/19/17

We read about David and Saul, Saul now doesn’t like David. David married Saul’s daughter. We read some tongue twisters in poems like peter piper, and how much wood would a wood chuck chuck. Today we almost finished our science book, we only have seven weeks left so the book we are about to start must be really really short.

In history we learned about Africa. There was a lot of gold and salt around Africa. I am glad we live in nowadays and not in a time long ago. Ghana was the center of gold trade but there wasn’t even any gold mines there, just in the countries around and they taxed people coming through the trade routes going through Ghana.

Homeschool Journal 4/12/17

We just moved into the renaissance in history. We have a whole book about leonardo da vinchi. It started with the fall of Rome. There were more wars in history. We learned about the wars of the roses. So many people were killed just because they were the air to the throne.

Homeschool Journal 4/5/17

In Bible the Philistines attacked Israel. Samuel was judging the Israelites and they won. In science we learned about types of reactions.

We learned about the French civil war. We learned about Joan of Ark, I wonder if God actually sent her. If she was a christian then she sort of died a mytar. If she wasn’t she was still used by god to make history.

Homeschool Journal 3/22/17

Happy third day of spring, yesterday we planted lettuce. It was really hot yesterday but it got down into the 50’s today. We had a braces appointment. I got really really really think bands. They are colored too. I have a lot of science questions to do.

Guns and Churches, Mixed?!?!?

In Arkansas, guns are now allowed on collage campuses, though not in dorms or at grief meeting. They are also now allowed in churches, and public buildings that don’t have a sign prohibiting carrying guns. You have to carry a conceal gun licence and you can carry a gun. It had a hard time getting through, they wanted to add on more prohibitions but it passed without any more. So we will see how this new law will be put to use in the future.

Homeschool Journal 3/15/17

Today we read about Samson in the Bible. Isn’t it amazing that he carried something the weight of an actual van, not a mini-van uphill for miles while being chased!!!

We read about the Monguls in history. Their enemies were so afraid of them that they wouldn’t even fight, one time a Mongul road up and 17 Monguls tied themselfs up because he told them to. Isn’t that amazing!!!

No Selling Notes?

Online websites that encourage learning have been paying for collage student’s notes. But Arkansas Universities aren’t sure whether to allow it or not. Different teachers and collages have different ideas on it, and some students have gotten in trouble for being “notetakers.” Some websites want the students to upload quizzes and tests as well. We will see what gets decided in the UA schools.
