Homeschool Journal 5/22/18

Hey! Mom hurt her back last night so we didn’t do History, Bible, Poems, or Read Aloud. Dad came home early to take her to the chiropractor. I finished math in a half hour. My Missions Trip team meeting is tonight! I am so excited! Also I am working on a really cool project, I am making a Television Series with some friends. Our first episode should be finished sometime in August. So exciting!

In LA I had a lot of work to do. All I had to do yesterday was chose a book, but today was different. I had to read the book several times, write notecards, and practice telling the story. It took me a very long time! I read more of The Hobbit today. All I have to say is, Why didn’t they stay on the path???? They were warned several times, and weren’t they told there was nothing good to eat in the forest? Seriously.

Homeschool Journals 12/11-12/15/17

12/11/17

In Bible we read about Pentacost, when the Holy Spirit came upon the disciples. I forgot what Pentacost was and I was going to ask mom what it was to see if there was a hidden meaning behind the Holy Spirit coming then. But when she told me I laughed so hard at myself. Ohh well, it was a good thought, it just didn’t turn out too well.

We read a poem by Edwaard Lear. He was one of the youngest of 21 children!!! He was lonely as an adult. Probably because he was used to so many siblings! His poems are lonely too.

12/12/17

We read about Sual becoming Paul in Bible. He barely escaped from people who tried to kill him several times. I am glad that God can change people so much, or else a lot of people wouldn’t be saved! I didn’t realize that Paul stayed about two years in the place where he got back his sight before they persacuted him, that explains how he had people to help him get out in a basket so soon!

We learned more about Napoleon in History. Today he won all of Austria’s land in Italy. I personally do not remember that Austria had any land in Italy. They probably won it in another war. We read about Waterloo too, the Battle of Waterloo is very famous.

12/13/17

Today we started watching our neighbor’s chickens. She has four hens and she asked us to watch them until Sunday. We get to keep the eggs that they lay during that time. I like the chickens, I am slightly afraid of them, but then again when I first met our cat, Lava I was afraid of him too. (And he is a ‘fraidy-cat)

12/14/17

In history we learned about South America becoming free. And then getting recaptured by the Spanish. And then getting it’s freedom. There are no more ups and downs, sorry. We learned about Simon Bolivar, he is who they named Bolivia after. They are spelled very differently, nevermind, that doesn’t matter very much. Bolivar wanted South America to be run like the US. Although he accomplished much in his lifetime, sadly, his dream was never a reality.

12/15/17

Today we stopped early to go to a thing at about 4:30. We fed the chickens today. They are loud. I am sad that we only have two days left. I hurt my back on Wednesday. It still hurts today. I didn’t get very much school done.

Homeschool Journal 11/29/17

Today I tried to finish up yesterdays school but I ended up going to the store with mom and then youth group and so on. In Bible we learned that Jesus has overcome the world, but He has also made the world. So I don’t know if that really means much, well I guess it does mean that He still has power. It’s not like He lost all his power long ago and now He’s just hanging around, unable to do anything. Luckily for us He’s not like that. Or we would be in huge trouble.

“Frrreezing?” “Not Us Bugs!”

According to bug experts, bugs will be moving into your home to escape the cold weather. So seal all those doors and windows if you don’t want to share your home for the winter. They say that they can also be castaways on furniture, groceries and so on. So you might want to shake out blankets and other things from the garage before you bring them inside. Termites however can not be prevented by closing windows and doors, so you should really have an expert check your house for them so your walls don’t crumble next time you go to paint. Waiting too long makes it harder for the exterminators to deal with it. Because of weather predictions we are expecting more mosquitoes. Lots of excess rainwater plus a warm winter means more baby mosquitoes are born later. Experts are expecting more bugs in houses overall this winter because of the amount of rain, which displaces many bugs looking to stake out the cold underground. So keep an eye out for bugs, they might be staying in your warm house!

Homeschool and Sick Journals 11/13-11/17/17

This week I was sick. It was not fun, I had a cold, a cough, a fever for some of it, and I missed most of parent observation week at ballet. I did some school though.

I think it must have been hard for Jesus to hang out with Judah all that time. He knew that Judah was going to betray Him, and that He was going to suffer from it. It must have been even harder the days before when He knew Judah was thinking about it, and when He made Judah a disciple. I mean, if I knew the future I might not have told Judah where I was going that night, I personally might have sent him on a loooooong errand that night until I was safe in hiding. Luckily, Jesus is not like me.

Homeschool Journal 10/23-10/26/17

I was supposed to be taking notes for this week. But I didn’t. It is too late now, and I don’t remember what happened, so I can’t write a journal. I will try harder to take notes from now on. I am going to work on getting my school done on time too. I am sorry.

Homeschool Journals 10/31-11/3/17

This week I finished my alone reader about Japanese ports opening up. It was historical fiction. I liked it a lot. I can’t wait to start my next reader! I wonder if it will be historical fiction too, it’s my favorite genre.

We have hit the semester mark. Yay! I am a quarter of the way done with school for the year! Wow, if only the rest of the year would go this fast I would be done with the school year in no time! It is almost holiday time too, so much to look forward to.

During electives this week I finished an online course I was taking on how to make your headlines better. It was a very in-depth course and it even covered search engines and key words. It has majorly improved my headlines and I found the course interesting as well. For an example of my newly acquired skills see “Row Row Row your Boat… Democracy Down the Stream” an article I wrote about the possible new trend of diplomats row boating with each other while on business.

Book: Mr. Lemoncello’s Great Library Race by Chris Grabenstein

Reveiw

I think that Mr. Lemoncello’s Great Library Race is another amazing book by Chris Grabenstein. I plan on adding this to my personal shelves right next to the rest of the series. It is a three book series starting with Escape from Mr. Lemoncello’s Library followed by Mr. Lemoncello’s Library Olimpics and now making it a terrific trio, Mr. Lemoncello’s Great Library Race! I hope a fourth one is coming soon! Mr. Lemoncello’s Great Library Race is about a third challenge for the team, this time all the players are coming from the board of trustees, and there may be a problem from the past to fix! As mysteries arise from the past about Mr. Lemoncello’s start as a gamemaker it may turn out that Mr. Lemoncello didn’t play fair. It is up to Kyle and friends to find the truth lurking behind the surface. But what they know may ruin Mr. Lemoncello, forever!

Homeschool Journal 10/2/17 Somebody Please Read This!!!

Today is the day before Succot. Succot is a Jewish holiday that we celebrate, we are going to go camping for a week this year. So therefore I will not be doing school for the next week. I know you are so sad, no journals to read for a week! (Secretly you are most likely saying “Yippie!”) even though the only people reading this are going to Succot with me. Actually, now that I think about it I don’t think anyone is going to get around to reading this journal. That is sad. But then again nobody is going to read this, so it doesn’t matter if I say it is sad or not because nobody is going to see it! This is very frustrating, I am being forced to write this journal for school and nobody is even going to read it except me. I know that doesn’t sound like a big deal to you most likely, but as a writer what is the point of writing if nobody is going to read it!!!!!!!! This is very depressing. I would rather write about school, even though it might be years before somebody reads it.

School was school. I don’t like most of school. I didn’t finish school today. I am having trouble memorizing one or two Bible verses a week, we are going too fast. I just started writing a story, I am going to put it below. I hope you like it. (You had better not comment saying it’s horrible. Even if it is, constructive criticism welcomed though…) So here it is…

Prologue

Knock, knock knock. “Bertha? Can you please go answer the door before it falls down?” “Yes Miss, I’ll go straight away.” A moment later Bertha appeared again. “It’s someone to see you miss, he said et’ was urgent Mi- Are you all right Miss? You’re white as the linens!” “I-I’ll be fine.” “All right Miss” She said disbelievingly “ ‘e asked for the Master too.” “Please go straight away.” “Yes Miss.” It might not be the summons. Well, there is no way to know unless I get up and to the door, so I might as well get up. She walked hesitantly towards the door. It looked foreboding, the sturdy oaken door was much taller than her. And she was not short. Slender, but strong with long shiny brown locks and inquisitive greenish-grey eyes she had been the life of many parties. She shook off her dread, no use in worrying about what is to come. I can’t change it, only God can. But I can be strong and let Him use me. With that she grabbed the handle and gave a sharp tug. It didn’t budge an inch, she had locked it properly at dusk. As she unlocked the sturdy metal bolt she felt the uneasiness return. The lock was meant to keep things out, she had worked so hard, made sure the bolt was properly secure, kept it locked after dusk every night, never staying out late, and making sure plenty of servants were about. There is no use in worrying she sternly told herself. She took hold of the handle and pulled. This time the door swung open. Her husband chose that moment to join her at the door. His face was guarded. The man outside the door was tall, his face covered by the brim of a inexpensive hat. His clothes were dark, as if to blend into the impending darkness. With a start she realized that was likely the purpose. She shivered, and not only from the cold. “It is time.” He quietly said. His voice was gruff, and his manner of one used to being obeyed. Sonya! It was so soon, the letter was done at least, but she must hurry! Her legs started moving of their own accord. “Sonya… There is still time!” She called to her husband over her shoulder as she ran. She knew it was not proper for a lady of her status to run, but she did not care. Her feet seemed to pound out the words as she ran, “No time, no time, no time!” But there had to be time! Oh Sonya, my darling! She ran faster, and faster still until the rooms were flying past. Why was their house so large? There. The nursery door! She stopped running abruptly, she did not want to wake Sonya up, it would only make it that much harder. She quietly pushed open the door a crack and squeezed through quickly. She walked cautiously over to the bed, the moonlight flooded the room, falling on the sleeping girl’s face. She knelt down and scooped the sleeping child into her arms. “Bertha?” She called as she walked into the hallway. “Yes Miss?” Bertha inquired coming down the hall towards them. “Take Sonya to Annabell, keep her safe.” She must be safe, she added in her head. She would be, no one would expect her to be hidden there. “Hurry!” Someone’s voice called up the stairs. Her husband. Everything seemed so unreal. But she must go. “Goodbye dear Sonya, be safe.” She whispered. She kissed the angelic sleeping face, she was only 4 years old and already she had been affected so much. She brushed back the hair on her forehead, uncovering the scar. Her efforts to protect her had failed once already, but now… “Hurry!” Her husband called again from downstairs. She turned towards the stairs. Looking back one last time she hoped against hope it wouldn’t be the last. She hurried away. The note! Bertha must read the note! “Bertha, there is a note in the second drawer of my desk. Read it, and follow the instructions carefully!” She said urgently. “Hurry!” She turned for the last time and rushed down the wide corridor. “I’ll be back!” She called to the half awake Sonya. She only hoped she could keep that promise…

Chapter 1

Beautiful! Sonya sighed in longing for that which she may never know again. She could just see the slender hands dancing on the keys. She could clearly hear the music so beautiful it made you want to cry… It was so clear… Could it only be memory? “Sonya! Get back to your work! The room won’t sweep itself you know.” Said a stern voice, interrupting her thoughts. “Yes Mistress.” Sonya replied. She fought back tears. It was, alas only a memory. Already it was slipping away from her, she wanted to cry out, don’t leave me here, alone. Alone, such a sad word. But I am never truly alone, she speculated. Mistress is always near to load more chores upon me, or tell me I am doing the ones I have wrong. Though she was cross, the Mistress was truly a comfort to poor Sonya who knew nothing of her father and mother except the fact that they had disappeared, leaving her in the Mistress’s stern care. Perhaps her mother had played piano, she often heard beautiful music and saw slender fingers dancing on piano keys, and she liked to believe it was her mother. But she did not know for sure, and she darn’t ask Mistress for fear that she would snap at her and give her extra chores. She already worked as hard as she could, and did not know if Mistress had even met her mother. She wouldn’t chance it only to find Mistress didn’t know any more than she did. After all, she thought, I don’t believe Mistress would bother tell me what she knows if she knows anything, and she certainly wouldn’t admit it if she doesn’t! So, with Sonya knowing nothing it remained. After she finished her chores, Sonya went out to the stables to see her friend, Betty. Betty was a dairy maid. Her mother, the Lady’s Maid, and her father, the Valet. She was Sonya’s age and had moved there when Sonya was six, Sonya had only been there a short time then. She did not even know how long she had been there. Wow, had she ever been that young? The girls had been fast friends ever since. They had explored the stables, made little crosses to decorate the servants quarters, pick berries to eat, and studied the Bible together. Betty had showed Sonya her favorite cows, and Sonya in turn showed Betty her favorite rooms to clean. Sonya thought back to when Betty had first come, she had been such a shy little girl then, she was so malnourished you could almost see right through her. Betty had told her of her life before they had come, when they had had lived in the quaint little Village of Tanson. And Sonya had shared of her few and far between memories. They had gone to the little chapel together on Sundays, and picked wildflowers for Betty’s mom’s room. Betty’s mom was almost a mother to poor Sonya, and Sonya often tried to brighten her day for it.

Homeschool Journal 9/26/17

Today was a crazy day. I thought that I didn’t need to do school for some crazy reason so I didn’t and ended up getting behind. We didn’t go to the Bible study so we aren’t going to go to it at all, (long story) but we did go to the library and then I went to ballet so I really didn’t get everything done. Including this journal, if you didn’t notice, (and I would be suspicious if you did sense I am assuming none of you are spies or stalking me) it is actually Thursday rather than Tuesday now.

I started math today. But I didn’t finish it. Math is not very fun, and I would prefer not to do it on Saturday. But I might have to. Sadly.

I didn’t do any science today. (I had to do a lot on Wednesday.) I have to be reading the book I’m reading on Evolution until week nine at the least.

Homeschool Journal 9/18/17

Today I got a package that had not given me all that was paid for. I got two of the thing! Isn’t that so cool! I am so excited! Mom went for a Khols interview today and she got the job? Isn’t that exciting! And she might not be a seasonal employee! She is going to have a thousand times better work hours though!

Did you know that the East India Company ruled/was the government for India? Crazy isn’t it? I thought they were just the missionary heads!

Religion has caused so many battles, revolts, riots, and even wars! About half the wars fought were caused by the clashing of different religions, and rulers taking sides didn’t help either! The other half were caused by greed. Greed is obviously wrong, but what about religion? Religion is not wrong, but forcing religion on someone is wrong, and that is almost what started all of the wars on religion. We ought to have learned not to do that by now, don’t you think?
