Hello Vella Karman here, a homeschooled 11 year old. I am in 6th grade. I like to dance ballet, especially point, and I also write my own stories. I can't see what I am doing in ballet but I can feel the beauty of it, and I praise God with it. Maybe later I will post some of my stories, I want people to see my work but I am afraid they will think it's terrible and say I am awful at writing. But I still want your comments even if that's what you have to say, I'll try not to take it personally, I am looking for constrictive criticism so say what you really think.

I didn’t do journals this week but by the time I’ve gotten around to it I lost my notes!!! So I don’t really have much to say about this week except I had a lot of trouble with bible, and mom didn’t read my LA so I didn’t do it. And I also got a A+++++ in science because mom forgot to take some questions off my sheet that she decided that I didn’t have to do, so I did them and got them right. I got 22/15 right. I hope that boosts my grade, because let’s just say science isn’t my best subject because it’s all reading, and I’m a visual learner. I just found some notes so here is more of what I learned.

Did you know that ostriches have claws? Isn’t that crazy? I didn’t know that they have claws, they are just folded up into the wings.

There were a bunch of Russian Christians a long time ago, it was . The Spartan men and boys trained for war almost all their lives, they had to train, take a test, and then serve for pretty much all of their lives. They would rather die than lose a battle. That is serious stuff. There is a famous ancient scholar named Plato, so does playing with Plato stimulate your mind? Who knows. But this reminded me of a guy a once knew named Famous. Seriously. He was nice, I played chess with him.

Did you know that Away in a Manger was originally a poem by Martin Luther? But upon further research that may not be proven true. Its first known printing was around 1883, near his 400th birthday. I also hasn’t been found anywhere with his other works, so it may just be a “marketing gimmic.” Information credited to Wikipedia.com

Today we did a bunch of science, about several days. I t took a long time. As you know it’s Friday but we are doing a four day week because of the field trip and stuff. I have a lock-in tonight.

journal 10/20/16

Today Mom Reed Adi and the same kid who we’re babysitting again went to the store to pick up our online order. I stayed home to do school. :( I have several things I’m dreading such as four math lessons, and two current events. Tomorrow I have a church lock-in which is going to be really fun!!!!!!!! It is for fifty-six which is the thing I’m in, it’s sort of the transition between Sunday school and youth group, next year I’ll be going to regular church on Sundays and then youth group on Wensdays. As already stated by the name, at least I hope the name made it clear the fifth and sixth graders get to do the lock-in. I went last year and it was a ton of fun, we get to have inflatables inside the church and we roast marshmellows outside, we also have basketball and volleyball, and later we watch a movie. I went to sleep at two-something last year, and then I had ballet and stuff, this year I plan on going to bed before two, because I have point class, Nutcracker practice and other stuff to do on Saturday. But I still plan on staying up late, even though I’m already staying up until 10:30, or later on a regular bases.

Tapioca is from the Cassava plant, we use tapioca to make flour, and pretty much everything. The Nazca drawings are amazing, but they used math. Noooooooooooooo!!!!!! Art isn’t supposed to use math!!! The crazy 9-feet tall heads are amazing, most people are only five, or six feet tall! Just think if they had bodies!!!!!

I added some pictures for fun. :)

We baby sat today, and it was soooooooooooooo long. At least when your trying to do school and the kid is crying and won’t stop unless he is eating, so he can’t deal with anything not being perfect unless he is eating all the time. I still haven’t finished last weeks school so it’s a good thing we’re having a quarter break next week, although it might destroy the point if I’m doing school the whole week. But at least then I won’t be behind. Mom and Dad say that we’re so smart we freak out and think it’s too hard if we have to put any effort into school. He said he should really bump us both up a grade so that we will stop getting A’s and B’s all the time, and so that we know how to do hard work, but I already struggle with some things, and I thought it was good to get A’s and B’s, so I don’t know what to think. Why can’t life be easy to understand?

Today we went on a field trip to Bobrook Farms, they have a berry patch, a hay ride, a sunflower maze, animals, a corn bin, a hay maze for little kids, and a pumpkin patch. It is really fun, we went with a bunch of homeschool familys that we know. Mom was also babysitting so I didn’t get much school done, but it was a ton of fun so it was worth having to do more the next day. I really like these types of things but Reed was ready to go before we went in, and Mom and Adi were ready in a little bit.

To sue, or not to sue

The U.S. senate voted on whether to let 9/11 victims and victim’s families sue Saudi Arabia for the attacks in U.S. courts. The senate vote results where 97-1, they are trying to veto the president. They have been trying to get the vote passed for years, so it might be a while yet.

Today I watched Adi while Reed and mom went out. I gave her a Raggedy Ann face paint and colored her and my hair a bit red, it is fun. I didn’t get much school done because of this stuff so here is what I was doing instead today. I also went to the scout store with Mom, Reed, and Adi and also got a present for Reed. So that is what I did today.

journal 10/6/16

Today mom and Adi went to the store, and library and Reed and I stayed home to do school. I probably spent at least an hour on critical thinking, I had to take strips of paper and fold them, and then I had to cut them into circles to make big and small hooked circles. It was really hard because if the paper was too thick then it wouldn’t fold, but if it was too thin then it would brake and not form the loops, and for about half of it the scissors I was using weren’t working right.

Math was okay. It didn’t teach me anything today, I am on lesson 20 something and I have already done 4 quizzes, I wonder when it will stop reviewing? Oh well, better too easy than too hard.

journal 10/5/16

I burned both of my hands while making lunch today, It is the worst that I’ve burned myself in a while, and I burn myself about 3-4 times a month. We have to go get new wires and stuff this month, and I am not looking forward to it. Math is still teaching me stuff I already know, so there’s not much left to tell, yesterday I was “taught” how to tell time, I think they are using lessons from last year, I recognize them.

I don’t have any more LA this week because I was supposed to learn how to and then write a journal, but mom said I didn’t have to because as you all know I write one almost every day.

I took notes for a current event about a the senate vote about whether to let people sue Saudi Arabia or not, you should read it once it’s done. It was interesting, I think that we shouldn’t let people sue, because then Saudi Arabia will be mad at us. But then again I probably don’t know the whole of it.

I read about Moses being found by the Egyption princess in the Bible today, I really like this story about Moses because I like how he is in the basket and that the princess is nice and keeps him from being killed by taking him, I am just assuming that she is doing it to be nice.

Science is still about whale evolution, they can’t agree what animal they think whales came from. It is very… crazy, they are using absolute circular reasoning.
