Hello Vella Karman here, a homeschooled 11 year old. I am in 6th grade. I like to dance ballet, especially point, and I also write my own stories. I can't see what I am doing in ballet but I can feel the beauty of it, and I praise God with it. Maybe later I will post some of my stories, I want people to see my work but I am afraid they will think it's terrible and say I am awful at writing. But I still want your comments even if that's what you have to say, I'll try not to take it personally, I am looking for constrictive criticism so say what you really think.

Homeschool Journal 8/16/17 Day 3, Whoopie!

Wow! Three days of school already, it is going fast!!! I like making up puns for the number of days we’ve done of school. We went on a field trip to the orthodontist so that Reed could get a wire cut.

LA was easy today. I am writing a essay tomorrow, on the first week! I am probably going to do a lot of fun stuff this year! I actually get to read a bit more than a teeny bit this year for reading, yay! But it does mean that it takes a ton longer to do my reading.

Did you know that the Bible is actually for Christians, not non-christians? It is to tell us how to live, but it is also good for non-christians to learn about Christianity. The word Bible comes from the word “biblo” which means “book,” that really fits because the Bible is The book. The Bible was written in three different countries, with over 40 people writing in it!!!!! Now that is an awe-inspiring book!!!!! We are amazed by Jesus’ miracles but what we should really be inspired by is that He led a completely sinless life, because though He was still God, He was also completely human at the same time, so He was tempted just as much as we are. I know you’re saying “He had an advantage” but no, He really didn’t, He was just as human as we are. I know it’s hard to wrap your head around that concept, but He really was.                                   “I am not afraid of the temptation, I am afraid of the fact that I am tempted to do it”                                                                        -Vella Karman

In history we learned about the Spanish settling in South America. They stole around 15,000 dollars worth of money in gold from the natives!!!!! And thye forced them to mine it for them!!! I don’t know about you, but I would of made a few complaints about that!

Homeschool Journal 8/15/17 Day way 2 little

Yay, second day!!! We read one of Shakespeare’s poems, it was a bit weird. I interveiwed myself for English, it was fun and sort of cool.

It is amazing how much the Bible has went through, people have tried to destroy it and it has prevailed, and it has also been quoted, made into songs, read, and translated into more languages than any other book. It would have died out by now if it wasn’t God’s Word. Even non-christians know The Lord’s Prayer, and admit that it is powerful. If you took any mention of the Bible and disputes about the Bible ect ect out of history you would take out half of the great leaders of this world and half of history itself. Isn’t it amazing how the Bible was written by different people, in different countries, in different languages and yet it still portrays the same concept? That shows that the Bible was actually written by God. Isn’t it also cool that the Bible is a book for anybody, with any job, at any age, in any country, and at any stage of life? The Bible is the only book like that.

In history we learned about the start of the “Holy Roman Empire” the first king was a christian!!! So it spread christianity!!!!! (Years later) Charles got 3 kingdoms when he was still a teenager! He was a greedy, liar and he gave half his kingdom to his son, and half to his brother, which is probably going to lead to a power struggle.

Homeschool Journal 8/14/17

Yes, yes it’s the first day of school again. Yay!!! 7th grade!!! I think 7th is better than 6th because I am not behind yet. In 7th grade you get a “school counselor,” so this morning I went and talked to her/mom about my schedule for this year. I personally think it is just a teeny bit crazy. This year I am going to have a yearbook which is going to be so much fun!!! It will be like a 7th grade scrapbook!!! We are making first day of school cupcakes in our school colors!!!

In English I started a notebook with all the things that I am learning about things like nouns, et cetera. So when I need to know something I can just look it up! LA was lots more work but a ton of fun today!

In history we read the introduction. Why do they even have one of those for a history book? But they did, and they started by telling us about the lay of the land. Also called where the 7 continents, and the oceans names. Where do they think we live, the bottom of the ocean? Outer space? They had some cool poems though. It is amazing how much the world has developed in the last 500 years!!!!! Just think about it, travel, medicine, governing, science, maps, electronics, why electronics wasn’t even a thing 500 years ago!!! We saw some really cool pictures of Anne Frank’s actual diary, the Hubble telescope, Henry Ford in a car, (I didn’t realize that Ford was somebody’s last name!) and a picture of JFK just minutes before he was shot. Current Events was sad with all the great things in the newspaper there are to write about.

In Bible we learned about bible junkies, the author, that God plants us in the right place, the Bible is a cleaning agent and God is the cleaning person, that you should document your insights, and that I might want to write a guide to God’s word. We read the Beatitudes. They said to go the extra mile in sharing too.

Put today on your calendar folks!!!!! In math I actually learned something, on the first day!!!!! I learned about Roman Numerals, I thought they stopped at X but they actually go on to do L,D, and M!!! I also wrote some of my answers with the cool tails!!!!!

Summer Journal 7/25/17

If God sent me a message like He did the seven churches what do I think He would say? Wow, that’s a huge question which, like many others I do not have the privilege of knowing the answer too. But, I can at least make a guess. So… I think He would likely start with… Do not be afraid, you need not be afraid of the darkness for you are the light, be strong and courageous, for you are My ewe and I am your shepherd, follow My voice and you will be safe, you have good intentions, but the flesh is weak. Take courage, drop your earthly possessions and follow the ways of light.

Summer Journal 7/24/17

We are going to start school on 8th of Aug. So we really need to finish last year stuff. On Wednesday we are going to drive to Dallas, drop mom off at the airport and then drive home. After that we get a week or so without dad going to work. It will be fun but we will do a lot of school too. Today I did a lot of critical thinking and I only have like five left!!!!! Yay!!!!!!!!!!!! I can’t wait to say goodbye to the algebra and logic!!!!! But, that is pretty much all I really got done. We didn’t do together stuff today because we have two books left and in alone stuff we have about two weeks. But, never the less we will prevail.

Summer Journal 7/11/17

Today is free meal at chick-ful-a if you wear a cow costume day!!! So I wore black leggings, black shoes, a white shirt, a walmart bag with spots on it, and a cardboard EAT MOR CHIKIN sign and, Ta-Da.. I was all set for lunch.

We learned about scientists worries about overpopulation in science. But I personally think that if God din’t make death v.s. birth rates match up, He’s got a plan for that.

In history we learned that the queen of England gave English pirates permission to attach Spanish ships!!! How does that even work? Aren’t Kings and Queens supposed to be against them? And how did she even let them know? I don’t get how that worked, isn’t that against the law or something?

Summer Journal 7/11/17

We are behind in school and we want to be done with it, so Mom has started to just read a lot of our History and science so that we can finish sooner. We read a lot of poems!!! Mom is going to our Great Grandpa’s funeral and memorial service two weeks from now, so we are going to take that week off.

In bible we read about David. We read the story about the rich man who took the only sheep the poor man had. I’ve heard versions of this story, but I don’t remember it being about David!!! I’ve always known it as King George and the Ducky.

Homeschool Journals 5/29-6/2/17

This week was a very eventfuI week!!! got my sling off on Thursday, yay yay yay. On Friday Bella and I had a sleepover and on Saturday the pool opened and we had a bake sale but it didn’t go too well but it was ok after my grandparents doubled it. I also got some school done this week. I only have two lessons left in math!! I am almost done with Wordly Wise and I have a ton of Critical Thinking left. I can’t wait till 7th grade, but I’m sure I can last until after summer.

Summer Journal 6/23/17

Today Reed was better so we did history. The power went out for 15 minutes this morning, those fixing crews sure work fast. In history we learned that the French civil war was started by people and leaders fighting over religion. Again making it a law that you have to be one religion is horrible.

In science we learned about weather prediction. Most of our weather prediction is from satellites and radar. We saw a cool picture of a hurricane from above. Did you know photosynthesis means building with light?

Fanning Fans!!!

Did you know there were fan collectors? Well there was a fan convention on Friday, June 2nd. Though not very well known by non fan fans it is a big hit with collectors. Pig Pickin’ named after the tradition of roasting a pig at the annual event is like a reunion for fan collectors. Some of whom have been coming the entire 20 years it has been around. From the non fan collectors who inherited a fan collection from their son, to the old timers everyone is welcome. So that’s the fan fans news for ya.’
