In History we learned about the first cities, they were in Sumer which is in southern Mesopotamia. Nanna was their moon god. There was no stone or metal or strong wood in Sumer. In peacetime they had no leader. They only had leaders in war and they elected them. But then they were always at war and they decided to make a permanent leader and have him pass down his leadership to his son. We also learned about early European villages. Some of them had stone houses and furniture.

Ruth lived in the time of the Judges. In the last period of Ancient Egyptian history they did not use pyramids but buried them in underground tombs.

In Bible today we read about the parable of the seeds sown on the road. Later when all his followers asked him about it I did not realize that it was not only his 12 disciples but all of his other followers too. We also did a Bible Highway in The Children’s Bible Field Guide. We read 5 poems today. They were about being things in different months. We learned about the Law of Use and Disuse. It is the theory that if you don’t use a body part then your offspring will not have that body part. A man disproved it by cutting off 20 generations of mice’s tails. Their children still had tails.

Joshua was a General. In ancient times copper was mined by hand. Darwin thought whales came from bears.

Today I started school early because we have some guests over tonight and we are going (maybe) to a hot dog stand called the Wienermobile that is shaped like a hot dog. We started a new book called 12,000 Years of World History. In it we learned about Chatul Huyuk. It was the largest town of early ancient history. We read two poems today. Another new book we started was called The Trojan War. It is a somewhat non-fiction (mostly fiction) book about the Trojan War. Another new book we started is Cool Stuff 2.0. We learned about smoke detectors and a crazy fancy new toilet. A smoke detector is 85 decibels.

In the third chapter of Mark the Pharisees are already trying to kill Jesus. When Jesus was healing everyone his family tried to get him because they thought he went crazy.
