I did all of my school before lunch today although I am at a friend’s house because my parents are out of town. Walt (my friend) goes on a walk for PE and I went with him but we were followed by the trash truck making it’s rounds so we had to run in the end.

In Bible we read about Israel blessing sons and dying. They went back to Canaan to bury him. In History we learned about medieval art, architecture, science, technology and war. We also learned about knights and reviewed castles. Guilds were like business government. We read six patriotic and about bird poems. In Science we learned about the Skywalk which is a glass walkway over the Grand Canyon. You can get motion sick in a skyscraper because of the wind rocking it.

In Bible the people of Egypt ran out of money to pay for the food in the famine so they sold all their cattle and the next year sold all their land and themselves into slavery. Russia was named for the Vikings living there who were called the Rus meaning red-haired. We read five poems including the famous one about Paul Revere and the others about the sky. We did Cool Stuff 2.0 today. In The Children’s Bible Field Guide we learned about John the Baptist, Jesus’s baptism, his temptation and his ministry. The wine in Jesus’s day was 1 part wine with 4-10 parts water. In normal Science we learned about currents and current diagrams. The longer the wire the more resistance and the thinner has the same effect. We are working ahead in Together Stuff this week because Mom and Dad will gone next week. We might do three read-alouds later but Mom’s throat hurts.

In Bible Joseph’s brothers went back the Canaan and brought back Benjamin. In History we learned about the Battle of Hastings. I thought that Normans came from the North and not South from France. We read six poems about stars, the night and the moon. In Science we learned about sound and electricity. I did not know the difference between current and static electricity but current is electricity in a conductor flowing through and static is electricity storing in an insulator and then breaking through when their is enough of a charge one way or another.

In Bible we learned about Pharaoh’s dreams, Joseph’s interpretation of them and his promotion to second in command. In The Children’s Bible Field Guide we learned about Jesus’s birth and childhood. In History we learned about Vikings. Both of the names they are called by today are not their real name as a people. Viking was their word for sailing and Norseman was Frank for North-man. Lief Ericsson was really Lief Eric’s son. We read 10 poems about the earth and creation. In Science we learned about visible light, mirrors and lenses.

Today we learned about Joseph interpreting the baker’s and the cup-bearer’s dreams. In History we reviewed Charlemagne. We read two poems about George Washington. In Science we learned about hydrogen fusion and concrete. Plasma is made when gasses are so hot that their atoms fall apart. I did not know there is a difference between concrete and cement. Concrete is 15-20% water, 10-15% cement and 60-75% sand.
