Journal 1/9/17

In Bible I learned from the accounts of the good kings of Judea that to be a good God follower you should not let the temptation for wrong be there, so that you will not be tempted. I read about Asa, Amaziah, Azariah, and Jotham. They followed God but bad things happened to most of them because “Only the high places were not taken away; the people still sacrificed and burned incense on the high places.” 2 Kings 14:4, this is also said in 2 Kings 15:4, and something that is much the same in 1 Kings 15:14. The kings followed God and obeyed God, they didn’t sacrifice. But the people did, and they paid for it, with the exception of Asa because “the heart of Asa was wholly devoted to the Lord all his days.” 1 Kings 15:14. But the other kings still did right in his sight as far as we are told, and we are told about their downfalls. So their must be a reason, a purpose deeper than the eye can see, and maybe just maybe that purpose is to teach us the lesson of not letting the temptation be there to tempt.

We skipped the section on chemistry and went strait to physics in science. I thought physics was just gravity and stuff like that but according to the book every single invention from the wheel to modern-day things such as computers and MP3 players are due to the wonderful amazing physics. I personally think it is a bit of an exaggeration, but they can think whatever they want.

We also read some poems about trees. They were crazy, one was talking, one was staring at someone, and the other one I could make neither heads nor tails of it. But I could tell they were all using personification.

Today is Mom’s birthday. We did not do alone stuff. We learned about the Wars of the Kings, Sodom and Gomorrah and broke our personal poem record for a day. 16. They were about boats and their cargo, aliens and airplanes. In History we learned about Britain in the Middle Ages.

Today is Mom’s birthday, we had chocolate chip banana bread muffins for breakfast, and sang her happy birthday during which she sang “to me, to me, to me.” So we made up a spoof on the Elmo cat had a birthday song, here is the link; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a7UV1xgGJTk you might find it interesting with our lyrics;

A Mom had a birthday and all the kids came

To eat Mom cake and play a Mom game

To open Mom presents and when they were through

they said happy birthday the way that Moms do

To me, to me, to me

Journal 1/4/17

Today I went to ballet and afterward we asked if I could move up to the next class and she said she would get back to us after asking her boss, so soon I will have an update.

I started a new book and it is about the great flood of Johnstown, Pennsylvania. It is a very good, well-written book. It is named The Terrible Wave. It is in my favorite genre too, historical fiction. I didn’t want to stop reading it is so good.

Homeschool Journal 1/4/17

Today is Bible we learned about the flood, Abram and the Tower of Babel. In The Children’s Bible Field Guide we learned about Elijah and Elisha. Elijah performed seven recorded miracles and Elisha 14. In Science we learned about the ecology of the world. A niche is how much, when and what for one species uses its ecosystem’s resources.

Journal 1/3/17

Happy New year!!! Today we learned about Elijah and Elisha, I think it would be fun to be a prophet like them because; you serve God, you help people, you would do miracles, you would warn people, and you would prove God’s power. I think it would have been hard because; people wouldn’t believe you, people still wouldn’t trust in God, people would try to hurt you for telling the truth, you would have to see kings reject God, and you would have to deliver bad news to people. I would probably be a bad prophet. Oh well, God has some plan for my life though I doubt it is being a prophet, but who knows?

In Bible we started to read about Cain and Abel, but realized that we had already read this, ditto with the genealogy. Then we actually read Noah’s Ark, and The Tower of Babel. I took notes with my left hand mostly, I am getting better at writing with my left hand, in print and cursive, not so much with cursive.

In science we are learning about Ecology, the study of animals. I want to bang my head against the wall. It is -22 in Antarctica. It is amazing that animals live in Antarctica and, the desert. We also learned about ecosystems, survival weapons, and niches. I also found a place where the book (which supports evolution) disproves evolution.
