Week 6, Just for Kicks

9/3/18

Whoopie! Labor Monday! Today we hung out. I did a bit of school, but most of it I’ll do tomorrow. I had an awesome Labor day weekend!

Today I started writing a mystery. For a while now I’ve wanted to write one, and I got a few ideas this morning, so I wrote them down for “when I write that mystery.” But later when I was talking to mom I just blurted out that I was going to write one and sat down to start it.

9/4/18

I had more school today than normal because of yesterday. But after the long weekend I was on task so I finished early anyway. Today I finished my favorite history book. It was about Archemedes, one of my favorite historical figures.

I compared The Thief and Going Solo, two adventure books I read for school. It’s probably part of my pre-writing for an english assignment. (Turns out, oddly enough, it was.)

9/5/18

Today Adi was sick. So I took a lot of breaks to play with her. I did finish a lot of school though.I started a new book in history. It’s about Ida Scudder, who was a missionary to Africa. I like it.

I made the outline for my comparison contrast essay today. It took a long time, but I got some cool new ideas. I think it’ll turn out well, I start writing tomorrow! Yay!

9/6/18

Today I volunteered at Call Mall. It was fun. I also went with mom on errands so I am just finnishing school. (7:22 PM) I want to be done!

I am enjoying Algebra because I don’t actually have to do the math. Just the formulas, I use a calculator for the actual math part. I don’t get why everybody’s afraid of Algebra. It’s fun.

9/7/18

I didn’t finish all of my school today because today I went to our rental house and tried to do school there. Usually it’s easier to do school there because with everybody working it’s more quiet. But today we met dad and I also couldn’t do some things because I didn’t have wi-fi, but I finished most of my school. In math negatives seriously made me cry. (When you have a plus sign you should add not subtract!) I don’t mind -X, as long as I remember it’s negative, but the rest is so confusing!

Today in science my experiment was to make a robot hand. There were instructions, and I made it of cardboard, straws, tape and string. We ran out of tape, (At our rental house. Yes, I DID bring the tape with me, but I didn’t check to see if it was full.) so we got some at the store. It really works, I picked up some things with it, and it’s super cool! (I came up with a new model to try that’s going to be awesome and make it even easier to pick stuff up!) I will post a pic of it!

I am getting better at art. I drew a very good VeggieTales face. It looks sort of like the asparagus dad’s face. I am working on different emotions and eyebrows. I am having fun now that my drawings are more recognizable.

Today mom went to Kohl’s for orientation so dad worked from home. Reed and dad left for a scouts campout at about four thirty and Adi isn’t feeling well. I am behind on school but I am going to catch up this weekend. Next week is Succot, it is a jewish holiday where you live in a temporary dwelling for a week. We are going to take off school during the time, (it is a Wednesday to a Wednesday) and go on a week long camping trip at Mnt. Magizine. It is going to be a ton of fun, other than we have to bring the dogs, and I am going to miss all of ballet except for Nutcracker rehearsals. (If I miss more than two they may replace me!) But I am going to take extra classes at different times to make up for it.

Math is not very fun. (As always.) But I am getting good grades. And at least we are getting to where we left off last year. (That means that I don’t have to listen to “refresher” lessons at least.) Maybe I can start “algebra” it’s not really algebra but more introducing the concept of it. But it is fun. (For math.)

You think in the Bible they might figure out not to take censuses. We read about the man who God promised he would see Jesus before he died. We also read the part about the prophetess who prophesied about Jesus right after the man gets to hold Him. I didn’t realize Jesus was my age when He went to the temple. That’s cool. I wonder how much Jesus understood, I mean did He know that His parents didn’t know he was the Christ? How about understanding people talking ect when He was a baby? How can Jesus increase in favor of God and man? Doesn’t it say you can’t earn His favor? But then again that is we can’t, who says Jesus can’t? Did you realize all the crazy town names are names after rulers ect?

Homeschool Journal 9/26/17

Today was a crazy day. I thought that I didn’t need to do school for some crazy reason so I didn’t and ended up getting behind. We didn’t go to the Bible study so we aren’t going to go to it at all, (long story) but we did go to the library and then I went to ballet so I really didn’t get everything done. Including this journal, if you didn’t notice, (and I would be suspicious if you did sense I am assuming none of you are spies or stalking me) it is actually Thursday rather than Tuesday now.

I started math today. But I didn’t finish it. Math is not very fun, and I would prefer not to do it on Saturday. But I might have to. Sadly.

I didn’t do any science today. (I had to do a lot on Wednesday.) I have to be reading the book I’m reading on Evolution until week nine at the least.

Banned

Trump has banned travel to the US on varying levels for eight other countries unless under certain circumstances. He put out new security measures and if they refused to commit to them or couldn’t meet the requirements most of their citizens aren’t going to be able to travel to the US for a while. Several countries didn’t meet the requirements at first, but found a way to meet them in the fifty-day span they were given and now they can travel to the US. So if you are from Chad, Iran, North Korea, Syria, Libya, Yemen, or Somalia you might want to rethink that vacation.

Today we are going to go shopping at one. So I am doing my school early. I didn’t start early I just worked really hard to get it done. So yes, it is before lunch fight now. Adi went over to a friends for a playdate and she will be gone until lunch. Yesterday I had my first Nutcracker rehearsal!!! And yes, I am aware that it is still September. We start early. It was a to of fun, I already knew my “sister” in my “family.” It is so cool and awesome, I am going to have so much fun!!!

Math was ok. My lesson was titled “Quilts.” Seriously, yesterday I learned about eating right. They start by telling me about the subject, and then they turn it into math. I had to figure out how many inches of thread they would need for a quilt, how many squares were on the sides… So it was still math, but the lessons weren’t as boring.

Did you know that some pterosaurs were about as big as a fighter jet? They were, and it was amazing. These huge, fish eating, winged creatures with tales and big beaks were not the type to mess with. Swooping and soaring through the air, diving to get a mouthful of nice fish, these mammoth creatures were strong, athletic dinosaurs, so why did they go extinct? My personal outlook on this was that the flood caused it, it could of been the reason that dinosaurs were wiped out, I thought. But God didn’t have it happen that way, the Bible says in Genesis 6:19-20 “You are to bring into the ark two of all living creatures, male and female, to keep them alive with you. Two of every kind of bird, of every kind of animal and of every kind of creature that moves along the ground will come to you to be kept alive.” And in Job, a dinosaur was mentioned, so it didn’t happen at the flood, so what did happen to the dinosaurs? The plain and simple answer to that question is……………………….. I shouldn’t tell you, never mind people, this was just a big hoax to get you really interested in reading my journals, you have wasted your time, no not really. The plain and simple answer is…………………………………………………………….. maybe I’ll tell you after you comment your thoughts, I wouldn’t want to ruin the surprise… because I truly don’t know the answer.

Today we learned about sea lions, and seals. Did you know seals can dive six-times deeper than a submarine, and it can also hold its breath for two whole hours!!!! What amazing animals God has made!!!!!! If we were at church somebody would be saying amen at that, because you really can’t disagree.

I was learning about demonstrative adjectives, and indefinite adjectives. I had to find the demonstrative adjective in my dictation passage for this week. I also found the demonstrative adjective in their sentence, it’s underlined. Then I had to write a sentence or two using both a demonstrative adjective, and an indefinite adjective. It was pretty easy, and it didn’t take long. Now I am going to go play chess with Reed.

Today is a friday. I had a lot to do today. It was hard.

I had to do some current events I think.

We read a lot of read alouds, and zachery wasn’t here today.

I did some science questions and they were hard.
