Homeschool Journal 2/10/17

Tomorrow is the day. Tonight my friend who I am staying with is going to come over here for a sleepover. Tomorrow we are going to point class together, we are in the same class. Then we hang out until when we have to head over to her house, we pack up a car, (our van has broken down and the car is at the shop, so hopefully we will be able to get some sort of transportation because her house is an hour away.) Some how we will get there, we will get shown the house, (none of us not even I have seen her house and we have been friends for about a year now) then will will settle in, (we are bringing the cat too.) And then mom and dad will leave, if we ever get all that figured out then I will; A. Have an awesome week with my best friend, B. Have an awful week missing Mom and Dad, C. Have and awful week taking care of and cleaning up after Adi, or D. All of the above. Please vote on which one you think is most likely going to happen, I am hoping and praying on A. But B, or C seem way more likely. At least I’m almost done packing!!! Don’t forget to vote by putting your opinion/letter/other in the comments!!! We value your opinion.

We read about Israel blessing and telling the future of his sons. I thought he died yesterday but I was wrong and he died today. Most of his sons had awful futures. Joseph has now died, there was a lot of Dying in our Bible today.

In history we learned about the crazy idea that non-christians have of religion. It is sad, so so so very very very very sad. I don’t want to think about it any more. We also read about the arts, it took forever to make books, wow mass production is really helpful but it also cuts the value of it by 100. Everything used to be made of wood, that is sad because wood burns way to easily. We saw a picture of the Hagia Sophia. it is so amazing. The Chinese invented fireworks, clocks and discovered magnets.

Wow only two days, I really need to pack today. Last year I started packing weeks ahead, it is overwhelming when I think about how long and at the same time not very long ago that was. I remember it like it was just yesterday but at the same time I have grown so much sense then. I should better go pack.

Today Reed told us a really funny play on words joke that had to do with Islam and Buddhism. In Bible we read about more of Joseph’s life. He has now bought all of Egypt and everything else in Egypt for Pharaoh. And Jacob died. Tomorrow we are going to finish Genesis. Mom started to read extra Field guide, even though we read through next weeks yesterday.

In history we learned about old English, it is crazy confusing. It was nothing like now-a-days English. We stole a lot of words from other countries, why can’t we make up our own? I wouldn’t like living in a feudalistic society. We learned about Magyars. They were fast, and they used that to ride around stealing things and killing people. It was awful, and nobody could catch them. Until finally a king conquered them. People have very odd names and nicknames in the world. There was really a King named Louis La Fat, how embarrassing!!! History is pretty much impossible to pronounce name person started a war, conquered, over through, or fought against impossible to pronounce name person. The Seljuk people had a “Friday” mosk, isn’t that crazy.

We finished pretty early today too, and I am doing some of next weeks stuff because we are doing extra together stuff this week and extra alone stuff next week at Camp K and Camp S. I am doing this because I want to be free next week because this year I have a friend where we are staying!!! Only Three day left before we leave for camp K, I can’t wait but I will miss Mom and Dad too.

We read a poem about Paul Revere today. In Bible we read about Joseph revealing himself, and then Israel and Joseph’s brother came to Egypt.

Did you know that the vikings played chess? They did, it is supposed to be a civilized game. But they did, we saw a picture of one of their chess pieces. Some vikings lived in now-a-day Russia,  Greenland, and they lived in America before  the indians attached them. Leaf the lucky found North America way before Columbus even tried.

In science we learned about cool buildings in science. One was shaped like a wave, another looked like it was made of water, and one other one had levels that would spin around with the wind!!! Isn’t that crazy!!! We also learned about Pneumatics. The questions were okay.

Homeschool Journal 2/6/17

We read about pharaoh’s dreams, and Joseph was just set over the land of Egypt. Joseph just had Manasseh and Ephraim, and his brothers came to see him. Herod was a bad and power hungry ruler, he killed his own wife and sons because he thought they wanted to have his throne. An emperor once joked that it is safer to be Herod’s pig than his son.

The Norse people are attaching the Franks in history. They were sometimes called vikings, they’re boats had flat bottoms so that they could go right up to shore. We also read about Eric the Red, and Leaf the Lucky.

In science we learned about concave and convex lenses, did you know that our eyes can change between the two? Our eyes are cool, I wonder if contacts lens got the name from convex lenses.
