Homeschool Journals 12/11-12/15/17

12/11/17

In Bible we read about Pentacost, when the Holy Spirit came upon the disciples. I forgot what Pentacost was and I was going to ask mom what it was to see if there was a hidden meaning behind the Holy Spirit coming then. But when she told me I laughed so hard at myself. Ohh well, it was a good thought, it just didn’t turn out too well.

We read a poem by Edwaard Lear. He was one of the youngest of 21 children!!! He was lonely as an adult. Probably because he was used to so many siblings! His poems are lonely too.

12/12/17

We read about Sual becoming Paul in Bible. He barely escaped from people who tried to kill him several times. I am glad that God can change people so much, or else a lot of people wouldn’t be saved! I didn’t realize that Paul stayed about two years in the place where he got back his sight before they persacuted him, that explains how he had people to help him get out in a basket so soon!

We learned more about Napoleon in History. Today he won all of Austria’s land in Italy. I personally do not remember that Austria had any land in Italy. They probably won it in another war. We read about Waterloo too, the Battle of Waterloo is very famous.

12/13/17

Today we started watching our neighbor’s chickens. She has four hens and she asked us to watch them until Sunday. We get to keep the eggs that they lay during that time. I like the chickens, I am slightly afraid of them, but then again when I first met our cat, Lava I was afraid of him too. (And he is a ‘fraidy-cat)

12/14/17

In history we learned about South America becoming free. And then getting recaptured by the Spanish. And then getting it’s freedom. There are no more ups and downs, sorry. We learned about Simon Bolivar, he is who they named Bolivia after. They are spelled very differently, nevermind, that doesn’t matter very much. Bolivar wanted South America to be run like the US. Although he accomplished much in his lifetime, sadly, his dream was never a reality.

12/15/17

Today we stopped early to go to a thing at about 4:30. We fed the chickens today. They are loud. I am sad that we only have two days left. I hurt my back on Wednesday. It still hurts today. I didn’t get very much school done.

“Frrreezing?” “Not Us Bugs!”

According to bug experts, bugs will be moving into your home to escape the cold weather. So seal all those doors and windows if you don’t want to share your home for the winter. They say that they can also be castaways on furniture, groceries and so on. So you might want to shake out blankets and other things from the garage before you bring them inside. Termites however can not be prevented by closing windows and doors, so you should really have an expert check your house for them so your walls don’t crumble next time you go to paint. Waiting too long makes it harder for the exterminators to deal with it. Because of weather predictions we are expecting more mosquitoes. Lots of excess rainwater plus a warm winter means more baby mosquitoes are born later. Experts are expecting more bugs in houses overall this winter because of the amount of rain, which displaces many bugs looking to stake out the cold underground. So keep an eye out for bugs, they might be staying in your warm house!

Homeschool and Sick Journals 11/13-11/17/17

This week I was sick. It was not fun, I had a cold, a cough, a fever for some of it, and I missed most of parent observation week at ballet. I did some school though.

I think it must have been hard for Jesus to hang out with Judah all that time. He knew that Judah was going to betray Him, and that He was going to suffer from it. It must have been even harder the days before when He knew Judah was thinking about it, and when He made Judah a disciple. I mean, if I knew the future I might not have told Judah where I was going that night, I personally might have sent him on a loooooong errand that night until I was safe in hiding. Luckily, Jesus is not like me.

Homeschool Journal 10/23-10/26/17

I was supposed to be taking notes for this week. But I didn’t. It is too late now, and I don’t remember what happened, so I can’t write a journal. I will try harder to take notes from now on. I am going to work on getting my school done on time too. I am sorry.

Homeschool Journals 10/31-11/3/17

This week I finished my alone reader about Japanese ports opening up. It was historical fiction. I liked it a lot. I can’t wait to start my next reader! I wonder if it will be historical fiction too, it’s my favorite genre.

We have hit the semester mark. Yay! I am a quarter of the way done with school for the year! Wow, if only the rest of the year would go this fast I would be done with the school year in no time! It is almost holiday time too, so much to look forward to.

During electives this week I finished an online course I was taking on how to make your headlines better. It was a very in-depth course and it even covered search engines and key words. It has majorly improved my headlines and I found the course interesting as well. For an example of my newly acquired skills see “Row Row Row your Boat… Democracy Down the Stream” an article I wrote about the possible new trend of diplomats row boating with each other while on business.

Book: Mr. Lemoncello’s Great Library Race by Chris Grabenstein

Reveiw

I think that Mr. Lemoncello’s Great Library Race is another amazing book by Chris Grabenstein. I plan on adding this to my personal shelves right next to the rest of the series. It is a three book series starting with Escape from Mr. Lemoncello’s Library followed by Mr. Lemoncello’s Library Olimpics and now making it a terrific trio, Mr. Lemoncello’s Great Library Race! I hope a fourth one is coming soon! Mr. Lemoncello’s Great Library Race is about a third challenge for the team, this time all the players are coming from the board of trustees, and there may be a problem from the past to fix! As mysteries arise from the past about Mr. Lemoncello’s start as a gamemaker it may turn out that Mr. Lemoncello didn’t play fair. It is up to Kyle and friends to find the truth lurking behind the surface. But what they know may ruin Mr. Lemoncello, forever!

Homeschool Journal 10/20/17

Today I am going to have my twin come over for a sleepover. Due to being safe I am not going to use her real name, and because of the fact that we are almost twins and we have similar names I am going to just call her my twin. She is going to come over for a sleepover tonight and I am so excited!!! Mom told me about it just yesterday. She is coming over because one of her siblings has an activity tomorrow and we are going to have a ton of fun. I can’t wait!

I history we learned about croissants. There was a siege on a French city and they were digging tunnels under the city. Everybody was told to listen and warn people if they made it into the city. Two bakers were making bread in the morning and one of them heard them. He yelled and some soldiers came and fought them in the tunnels. They ended up winning the war. It is said that the bakers made croissants to celebrate that day.

Homeschool Journal 10/19/17

Today a private school friend of mine came and did school with us for a while. She said she wished she could be homeschooled the day before, after she had told us she didn’t have to go to school today and tomorrow because of parent teacher conferences. That was the beginnings of a brilliant idea. I invited her to do school with us today, and she still liked the idea of homeschooling at the end. (Lots of people get wrong ideas of homeschooling-many think I don’t do school at all and play all day.) It was fun. It is a lot better doing school if you are doing it with friends.

I wrote a pretend newspaper article about something in one of my books that I had to read. I will type it up and put it here.

Young Young-sup, son of lacal rice merchant earned a reel from honorable kite seller Chung on a trip to town. The courageous boy offered to fly a kites in front of his stall to attract customers, in seven of Chung’s kites were sold before closing he could have the reel. Six kites were sold bought before closing…

Today mom went to Kohl’s for orientation so dad worked from home. Reed and dad left for a scouts campout at about four thirty and Adi isn’t feeling well. I am behind on school but I am going to catch up this weekend. Next week is Succot, it is a jewish holiday where you live in a temporary dwelling for a week. We are going to take off school during the time, (it is a Wednesday to a Wednesday) and go on a week long camping trip at Mnt. Magizine. It is going to be a ton of fun, other than we have to bring the dogs, and I am going to miss all of ballet except for Nutcracker rehearsals. (If I miss more than two they may replace me!) But I am going to take extra classes at different times to make up for it.

Math is not very fun. (As always.) But I am getting good grades. And at least we are getting to where we left off last year. (That means that I don’t have to listen to “refresher” lessons at least.) Maybe I can start “algebra” it’s not really algebra but more introducing the concept of it. But it is fun. (For math.)

You think in the Bible they might figure out not to take censuses. We read about the man who God promised he would see Jesus before he died. We also read the part about the prophetess who prophesied about Jesus right after the man gets to hold Him. I didn’t realize Jesus was my age when He went to the temple. That’s cool. I wonder how much Jesus understood, I mean did He know that His parents didn’t know he was the Christ? How about understanding people talking ect when He was a baby? How can Jesus increase in favor of God and man? Doesn’t it say you can’t earn His favor? But then again that is we can’t, who says Jesus can’t? Did you realize all the crazy town names are names after rulers ect?

Homeschool Journal 9/22/17

Today we started reading Luke for our together Bible reading. We are reading through it fast. I am working on getting better at typing, I have to think about  it a lot or my fingers type the words I use a lot instead of the words I was thinking or get them in the wrong order. I hope by the end of the year I will be good enough to transcribe! But who knows, I have a lot of time before then.

I like drawing. I think I would like to make a comic some time. I drew a sort of comic today of a tomato rolling her eyes. Yes, it was recognizable as a tomato. And yes, you could tell it was a girl. And yes, you can tell she is rolling her eyes. (After I tell you, but granted it looks like that after you know.)

I did Writers Inc. today and it was cool. I think I need to make my writing clearer, I am so busy getting all the ideas I have in the story and on paper that it gets a little bit muddled… Well, if you have any other tips on how I could improve my writing please comment.
