Homeschool Journal 5/7/18

Hey! We’re back with journals again. Today in Bible we read starting at Revalation 12. I am not perticulary fond of Revalation. It is a little scary and confusing, and sometimes just plain weird. Today we read about a pregnant woman and Satan, who was trying to eat her baby as soon as it was born. (FYI, the baby made it out safely.) In Bible I also finished my book study on Ruth and did a character study on Josiah. (The child king who found the Book of the Law and started to follow it.) And guess what? Although he was a child when he became king, (he was eight) he wasn’t a kid anymore when he found the Book of the law. (He was in his twenties!)

I did two math lessons today. I am learning about Geometry right now. I like geometry, shapes are a lot more fun than numbers. I have a trick for remembering what you call the angles, it goes like this. When you have a angle that is smaller than a right angle it is called an acute angle. (Because it is small you call it a cute angle. Get it? A cute, acute.) Right angles are easy to remember and the last one gets narrowed down.

In history we learned about the rise of Joseph Stalin. How sad. If you combine him and Hitler you get a perfect picture of tyranny. Did you know his real name wasn’t Stalin? He changed it when he joined communism. Stalin means to steal, and he did. He stole human rights. While he was in charge 6 million Russians died of starvation, and 15 million went to prision. Most of those 15 million died while there.

Lend a Hand to the Handicapped

The Clinton airport is one of the biggest airports in Arkansas. They were recently inspected, and it was discovered that they didn’t have the required amount of handicap parking. It was  decided they should put most of the handicap parking in one area as well as adding more. Thirty-four parking spaces were added 34, most of them are short-term in the west parking lot. They decided it works best that way because there is not a lot of street traffic on the route they will take to the doors of the airport. They also voted to give the people parking in handicapped spaces the lowest rate possible. At the moment that is $8. So there we have it folks, we are lending a hand to the handicapped!

Yesterday we started a new read aloud and it is sort of good but mostly I don’t think I will like it because the title has ghost in it. It is really scary and I totally will wish we aren’t reading this book soon. It was creepy.

Math was horrible and took forever. I got sent to my room until I could calm down. I was crying. Just let me get it wrong for once. I wish I could go back and not make all the typos ect, and not be so upset by the ones that I can’t get and then it is an obvious thing that I just forgot.

In English I am learning about character sketches. It is supposed to really develop your characters. It will really add depth to my writing if I can get the hang of it. But that’s only if I can get the hang of it. And if I practice it a lot. Well, this probably isn’t helping my writing. There are two many short sentences. I must stop having short sentences. Maybe if I use more commas? Or if I look through and see which things I really need to say. Ok, I am going to stop using as short sentences. If I can help it.

We just moved into the renaissance in history. We have a whole book about leonardo da vinchi. It started with the fall of Rome. There were more wars in history. We learned about the wars of the roses. So many people were killed just because they were the air to the throne.

Homeschool Journal 3/1/17

Today we read on our own again. I read about sumuari, it was sort of cool. I also read more about the crusaids, the Muslims and the jews were awful horrible about them. Science was about what the world is made of, did you know that vinegar is a compound of gases. It is really carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen, and that is the same exact things as acetone. I learned about lasers in science too.

Homeschool Journal 1/18/17

We read about Jacob getting Esau’s blessing, it is sad that they only have one blessing to give. I didn’t know/remember that Jacob means deceiver. We read about Muhammad’s death, Islam is “all about peace and being nice to everybody,” except for non Muslims, for that last part I read in-between the lines. I read some of Lamentations and I think the Israelites were sad because they disobeyed God, they got punished, and they were prisoners. The five rules for success that I got from Daniel are; don’t defile God, be nice to others, praise God, give the honor to God, and trust in God.

Lava is so cute he will melt you with his cuteness!!! Here is a picture of him. (I seriously want you all to be melted, I would suggest sitting down for this.) He just tried to press buttons on my computer and he logged me out and added in a few good things about himself too, (not really, he actually did a slash and logged me out.)

I didn’t get much school done today because Mom is on jury duty, she didn’t get picked but she was still gone until about lunch and we didn’t do any extra yesterday. Dad worked from home because we didn’t know if she would get picked and he had a lot of meetings so I didn’t get anything but yesterdays math lesson done until after lunch. I went with Dad to pick her up, it was interesting because she told us a bit about the case because you are allowed to if you weren’t picked for the case, (I am guessing this is the rule because if you are allowed to and you are on the case the people you are telling it to would probably voice their own opinions, which is fine if you aren’t on the case.) and for school later I had to pretend to be a lawyer getting ready for a case against Israel and Judah, it was pretty cool how that worked out but sort of freaky too.

Journal 11/28/16

We are learning about David and Solomon. David was a good, God fearing king, but he still made mistakes. But he was quick to admit his sin and God forgave him. Under David they had 10 times as much land as they had under the Judges. Solomon was wise, but he didn’t use his wisdom sometimes.

I like Octarain/Agustus better than his adopted father Caesar. He wasn’t power hungry like him, and he was willing to step down.

We learned about microbes in science today, we are mainly learning about Protists. Did you know that viruses are strands of DNA or RNA? And scientists debate whether they are alive or not because they don’t reproduce by themselfs and other such things.

We baby sat today, and it was soooooooooooooo long. At least when your trying to do school and the kid is crying and won’t stop unless he is eating, so he can’t deal with anything not being perfect unless he is eating all the time. I still haven’t finished last weeks school so it’s a good thing we’re having a quarter break next week, although it might destroy the point if I’m doing school the whole week. But at least then I won’t be behind. Mom and Dad say that we’re so smart we freak out and think it’s too hard if we have to put any effort into school. He said he should really bump us both up a grade so that we will stop getting A’s and B’s all the time, and so that we know how to do hard work, but I already struggle with some things, and I thought it was good to get A’s and B’s, so I don’t know what to think. Why can’t life be easy to understand?

journal 9/21/16

Today I got to read a bit about Abraham from the Bible and then I wrote a interview with questions that I would ask him, and answered them the way that I thought he would. It was hard, I had quite a time trying to figure out how I thought he would answer some of them. Including; Was it hard tying Isaac up?, Did you ever doubt God’s plan?, and Did you have a religion before you left Ur? So, I/m going to let you ponder over that and deside what you think he would say for yourselfs, because my answers aren’t very good, though my questions are, if I do say so myself. Please comment what you deside on the matter, thanks. Vella
