Homeschool Journal 9/29/17

Today mom went to Kohl’s for orientation so dad worked from home. Reed and dad left for a scouts campout at about four thirty and Adi isn’t feeling well. I am behind on school but I am going to catch up this weekend. Next week is Succot, it is a jewish holiday where you live in a temporary dwelling for a week. We are going to take off school during the time, (it is a Wednesday to a Wednesday) and go on a week long camping trip at Mnt. Magizine. It is going to be a ton of fun, other than we have to bring the dogs, and I am going to miss all of ballet except for Nutcracker rehearsals. (If I miss more than two they may replace me!) But I am going to take extra classes at different times to make up for it.

Math is not very fun. (As always.) But I am getting good grades. And at least we are getting to where we left off last year. (That means that I don’t have to listen to “refresher” lessons at least.) Maybe I can start “algebra” it’s not really algebra but more introducing the concept of it. But it is fun. (For math.)

Today we are going to go shopping at one. So I am doing my school early. I didn’t start early I just worked really hard to get it done. So yes, it is before lunch fight now. Adi went over to a friends for a playdate and she will be gone until lunch. Yesterday I had my first Nutcracker rehearsal!!! And yes, I am aware that it is still September. We start early. It was a to of fun, I already knew my “sister” in my “family.” It is so cool and awesome, I am going to have so much fun!!!

Math was ok. My lesson was titled “Quilts.” Seriously, yesterday I learned about eating right. They start by telling me about the subject, and then they turn it into math. I had to figure out how many inches of thread they would need for a quilt, how many squares were on the sides… So it was still math, but the lessons weren’t as boring.

Today I went with Adi to gymnastics. They got to climb the rope today! Adi already knew she could climb halfway up, (and their ceiling is way higher than a school gym) She climbed probably about 6, 7 ft. up. I know! Is that crazy or what! That girl can climb for a 6 year old! Congrats Adds!! (Adds is my nickname for her.) Since we were really busy yesterday I got to just finish yesterday today. We are finally on the right day of the week now! I only had four subjects but math took a while.

I am reading the Psalms for my on my own school Bible reading. That sounds confusing if you are not familiar with it, it really means that I read it on my own, (as in I read it by myself) but it is for school and I don’t get to pick what I read when. See, it’s really simple but it sounds confusing! I am on Psalm 25. That means I have done 24 days of reading, because I have been doing one chapter a day except for the one day I had to do two. (I don’t know why they had me do two, they just did.)

Homeschool Journal 9/1/17 (Nutcracker Casting!!!)

Today is the day that I get to know what I am in Nutcracker!!! So, I am… Drum roll please… I don’t know yet!!! Isn’t that great! Let me recheck really quick… Still don’t know. I am ahead in school so all I had to do today was half a math lesson, history, Bible, and spelling. Adi got glasses today. She is far-sighted, so she pretty much needs them for reading. But it is still cool. So that is today so far, (it’s not even lunch yet.) There will be an update almost as soon as I know. (That is, after I text some people and run over to a friends house real quick!:)

So. The final verdict is… drumroll please… I’m a party girl!!! Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When I heard I was jumping up and down and screaming!

Mom went to the store today and we watched Adi. It was ok. I am teaching Lava tricks like come, heel, jump and so on.

We read about various different islands in the Pacific. We learned about New Zealand mostly, and a few others such as Polynesia. We learned about the big heads on Easter Island, they weigh more than 50 tons!!! That’s a lot!!!

School was okay today, we went to the park and did some school there. It was a ton of fun. It is 3:04 and I am finished with school.

Did you know that there are over a 1,000 clay tablets in one  library in the fertle cresent. Isn’t that cool? It really helps us to learn about the past.

I was learning more about commas and their uses in binder work. There is this really funny book that dad told me about a couple years ago, it is about the importance of using commas the right way. The main thing in it is this: The panda eats, shoots, and leaves. That is the first one, here is the second one: The panda eats shoots and leaves. Aren’t commas amazing!!!

Journal/Vacation account 9/12/16

I am going to tell you about our week and a day long vacation in this journal. I got up at about 6:00 am and got dressed, ate breakfast, and did last minute packing/packing the stuff that I just realized that I had forgotten. We left the house around 7:00 and hit the road. It didn’t seem too long, even though we drove 12 hours that day. We listened to 2 audio books and played a ton of car games. We listened to 6 audio books total on this trip. I read some and got motion sick. That night we stayed with some friends, they had a fire pit, a zip line and more than one play house in their backyard. they also had a new puppy and a home theater, I went zip lining for the first time, and zip lining in the dark too!!!!!!!!!! We also had s-mores and played games. I got to sleep with my friend whom I hadn’t seen in about 2 years, it was a ton of fun!!! We went to lamplighter publishing and had a tour led by the president we even watched some books get made, I folded 100 boxes, and the president even signed 2 books for us and personally picked a book for each of us kids. Dad was thinking about maybe working at lamplighter so we went to their company picnics and made friends, they are awesome people who are serving God through their work and we love what they do but God doesn’t want us there right now. We also went and saw Niagara Falls, the Statue of Liberty, the site of the Twin towers, and our cousins we hadn’t seen in 3 years. At Niagara Falls we got ice cream, and  we were going to go to the crown at the Statue of Liberty, but it was broken so we saw it from the New Jersey side. We got to camp out on the floor in the basement with our cousins, and we got there way before dinner so we got to spend a bit more time with them than we might have. And we got to meet the newest edition to the family of 11, she is not quite 1 year yet. On the 4th or 5th day of driving it got a bit boring, I am glad we are back home now.

Homeschool Journal 8/24/16

Today was Adi’s birthday. We went to a big park across the river and to the store to get supplies to make rock candy. In Bible we read about the man with a legion of demons and the woman who touched His robe on His to the officials house to heal his daughter. I learned about banking in Math today. We read 7 poems mostly about children’s thoughts. We learned about Sargon building the first empire. He was the cup-bearer for a city-state king. He convinced the army officials to murder the king and make himself king. After that happened he took over all of Mesopotamia.

Today my mom babysat some friends again. The morning was very productive considering. We went on a field trip to the library, and I was almost done already checked out and stuff and Adi was just starting to look at books. I’m glad that I found everything easily, and I got some extra reading time in too.

I was “taught how to subtract again.” It’s not bad, at least it’s not to hard, plus it makes school go much quicker. Math was done in a flash because of that, so the morning went pretty smoothly altogether.

I looked up a letter the main character wrote in the book I’m reading and I had to check if it had all the parts of a good letter. The person forgot to sign the letter. The part of a good letter are heading, greeting, body, signature.

Today Reed and I had fevers. I still got almost all my school done today. I don’t think I’m going to ballet because I’m not feeling to good plus I’m probable contagas.

Ashgaibat is in Turkmenistan. Ashgaibat is actuly the city of love instead of paris. People just get them mixed up. Ashgaibat acctuly means city of love. 892,000 people live in Ashgaibat.

Adi kept inturupting us a lot today. Science was still about our eyes. Today we learned how they work and the names of the parts. The workbook questions took a realy long time.
