New Books By Vella Karman

Don’t you just love new books? The smell, the feel, a story just waiting to be read, whatever your favorite part, (though I hope its not the taste) new books are a favorite among young and old.

Lucy was walking down Main St. for the first time when she saw it, a bookstore! Since Mum had said she could explore, that meant she could go in, right? Looking towards where she had seen Mum and Tracy last, she scanned the crowds. Finding them in the bustle, she caught Mum’s eye. As Mum winked and pointed at the bookstore, Lucy grinned. She nodded, Mum knew her so well! Lucy opened the door and stepped into one of the magical places it seemed God had made just for people like her. She was greeted by the familiar smell of new books, shiny new covers covered the walls, at least a thousand of them, just waiting to be read! She picked up the nearest one and stuck her nose inside. Such fresh, fine, soft pages she thought, fingering a few. She admired the book, a copy of “To Kill a Mockingbird” nice and new, with a beautiful, smooth cover.

I believe that everybody should get the feel the sensation of walking into a bookstore, and hearing all the books almost calling your name, “Read me!” “No, read me first!” “Me, me, me!” So if you still can’t smell that brand-new book smell, keep on sniffing!

Homeschool Journal 8/17/17 Day 4 more to go

Some of you may ask “what are there four more of?” and “did I miss something?” The answer to these questions, in no particular order are “No, and there are four more years until I will be starting my last year of school.”

In English I wrote my first (most likely of many) essays. They gave me more direction on what they wanted, and how they wanted it to be done.

In math, they taught me how to add. Seriously this is seventh grade math, people. Well that’s that for math.

We started a new book titled, “But Don’t All Religions Lead to God?” The simple answer to this question is “No!!!!!!!!!!” And that is just what the book said. We also had an interesting discussion due to this book about Protestant v.s. some Catholic thing.

Did you know the Dutch have had only one dynasty!!! That’s a first! The dikes are in the Netherlands, Netherland means “far-away,” so people think that the Netherlands were far away when they named it! Did you know that tulips used to cost about as much as a large house!!!!!
