homeschool journal 4/11/16

Algiers is the capital of Algeria. 3,574,000 people live in there. Algiers means the islands. They have some very poor areas in Algiers.

In math I learned about how you can have zeros in your answer when you’re doing long division. It is really easy once you understand it. Although I barely got an A, even though out of twenty-seven questions with only twenty-two counting and I got two wrong.

Homeschool journal 4/19/16

Niamey is in Niger. We don’t know what Niamey means, 1,027,000 people live there. They have some poverty in Niamey.

We learned about water for Sudan today. It is cool. We read a book based on the founders life, and he helped someone write it. It was hard to read at times because the founder was alive during the civil war in Sudan, but I loved it. Later we visited their website, and heard one of the workers stories.

We started 1st John today. It is going to be interesting, John feels pretty strongly about other religions. He is attacking one head on right from the very first sentence in this book.

Cotonou is in Benin. We don’t know what that means.841,000 people live in Cotonou.

We read some really weird poems today. One was about lily pads, and the other one was about giraffes. In the lily pad one they described waterlilies as white dots and lily pads as beautiful things.

It isn’t even lunch yet and I’m almost done with school!!! I am so exided. I am going to have a bunch of fun today!!! I can’t wait!!!

Bamako is the capital of Mali, Mali used to be a great empire. It means crocodile pool. 1,708,000 people live there. There is lots of poverty there. After the Mali Empire declined, Mali became one of the poorest countries ing the world.

Science was about how to use the sun and stars to help you find your way. I can now use the big dipper and southern cross to find my way at night and a stick, two rocks, plus about 15 min. to make a compose.

We read an awful poem about clothes hangers. I really didn’t like it.

Conakry is in Guinea. Conakry doesn’t mean anything. 1,645,000 people live there, there’s lots of poverty there. It is on an island.

I learned about possessive and singular nouns. And how to know wether to add s, ‘s, or s’. It was a confusing until my mom helped me. It was easy after that.

We started a new read aloud today. It seems different, I don’t know if I’m going to like it. The things in the story happen in Africa.

Homeschool journal 3/3/16

Today is my birthday!!! At one something in the morning today I turned 11. I got a phone call from my cousins, a birthday card from my grandparents, and a lot of happy birthdays. For those of you who know what this means I did two double pirouettes finally  getting it pretty much down. What I mean to say is it’s been a really awesome day!!!

The Arabs built some underground water canals to take water to places without any and so that farming was possible in more places.

Istanbul is in Turkey. It means in the city. 1,530,000 people live there. It is the largest city in Turkey and started out as a fishing village.

homeschool journal 3/1/16

Happy march!!! Today is voting day here in Arkansas. I can’t believe it’s only 2 days till I turn 11, the past year has flown by, I got my first pet, had my first pet loss and gotten a new pet. Followed the elections and started 5th grade. I am in pre- point and working towards my goal of point as well as doing 3 and 1/2 hours of dancing a week. juggling school, dance, friends, pets, and moneymaking ideas, oh and that thing called growing up. I have learned a lot and am glad that my family and friends have been here to help me and encourage me to do my best. Thank you so much!!! (Mom you might want to read this journal, because I am not planing on repeating this in person. : )

Damascus is in syria, it’s named after it’s founder Damshak. 2,675,000 people live in Damascus.

In science we read our health book. It was ok, it was about taste buds and saliva. I already knew some of what we learned. The questions were not super hard.

Grammar was pretty easy. All I had to do was match up some attributions with some quotations. It was sort of fun.

Jobs friends aren’t wise at all! They told him some lies. That must make him a bit unhappy.

We started case for christ today. It is a lot like case for creator, it is about the same thing by the same author. It is good.

Tirana is in Albania. Tirana means ancient name of Tuscany. 538,000 live in Tirana.

We started a new book named “Whatever happened to penny candy?” It seems to start ok, it’s about economics and money. I think I will like this book even though economics isn’t my best subject. Economics is confusing!!!!! Whatever happened to bartering? The only thing that makes me think they stuck with money was because if the person who has what they need or want might not want what they have to barter, but everyone wants money.

Today in Bible Job says he thinks he will die soon. That is so sad! He tells his friends to leave because he thinks that he will die.

Kabul is in Afghanistan. Kabul means cane. 3,768,000 people live in Kabul. They say that Cane built Kabul.

Science was still about balance. We did some experiments about balance. On one we had to pick up a chair by only one of its legs, on another one we had to get out of a chair without leaning at all. The science questions were ok but they took a really long time.

We read a ok poem today about sea lions.

Poor Job I feel sorry for him. He doesn’t have any good friends either. He is so sad that he wants to die.

Almaty is in Kazakhstan. Almaty means father of apples. God is the father of apples. 1,240,000 people live in Almaty. Mom had a hard time pronouncing the names today. There are a lot of christians in Almaty, 28% to be exact.

In science today we learned about balence. It was cool. Did you know that your ears help you balence? I did.

We read a ok poem about shoes. Reed said that it was using metophors.
