Journal 8/16/16

Today was the second day of school. It was okay, not as good as yesterday though. We went on a field trip to the dentist. It was about one and a half hours long, so pretty much it was looooong, and during lunchtime. Math was the same as yesterday, and I got an A in spelling.

In history we learned about Nomads. They are people who move around to find food and stuff. They are kind of like Indians, don’t you think? Did you know that Nomads ate lizard soup? That is so discusting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also I thought that it was interesting that music was first used in Germany.

Science was about spontaneous generation, and there were pictures. I’m just going to leave it at that.

Homeschool Journal 8/16/16

Today Math was a repeat Lesson. I Korean I learned compliments. I started school early today because we had to go to the dentist today for Mom’s appointment for about two hours.

Jesus only had four disciples at the point where he healed Peter’s mother-in-law. When he was healing people from demons he would not let the demons speak because they knew who he was. In the Children’s Bible Field Guide we looked up a lot of verses and looked at verses that were prophesies and fulfillments of those prophesies. We also looked at verses in the prophets that showed that it was the Lord speaking through the prophets and not the prophets saying what they thought. We started a new book called The Kingdom Strikes Back. It is about the Bible. We read four more poems out of our poem book about places. There was another about John Drinkwater and one by the author of Winnie the Pooh. In Science we learned about people thinking spontaneous generation was true, like thinking that that if you put wheat in a jar with dirty underwear then a full grown mouse will come out a few weeks later.

Journal 8/15/16

The first day of school, first day of middle school, first day of school with braces. Somebody likes the word first a lot. Today was very fun, over the summer I got a chromebook, it’s a computer, made by chrome. Now that we’ve got that covered I’m going to go on to tell you that I got it for school and I am learning to use it. I want to be a ballerina for ballet magnificat and a foster mom when I grow up. I want to go to collage, and am looking forward to reading some awesome books for school this year!!!

Our science is about evelution, I have been told that is because we need to learn about other people”s beliefs and why they believe what they believe. It was okay, and the questions weren’t too hard.

We read some poems. I think they are nice, but Reed and Mom didn’t really. Last years poems didn’t make sense but these are pretty good. For history we learned about archaeology. It was interesting, not too bad. We also read an Encyclopedia, it was very very very bad, at least if you’re a christian.

Mark is the smallest book in the bible. It is also a tiny bit confusing. Did you know that John ate locusts and honey??? Isn’t that interesting! “The Lord is my shepherd.” with English letters is “.drphs ym s drL ht” Say that ten times fast.

Math was super duper easy. They “taught” me what decimals are, and what zeros are used for. I literally answered twenty questions about that!!!

Homeschool Journal 8/15/16

We started reading Mark in Bible today. It is the shortest Gospel and the first written. Peter and Andrew were the first disciples. The Bible has been translated into over 2,000 languages. There are no vowels in Hebrew. When someone copied the Torah or Bible in ancient Israeli culture they would check the letter count of the original and of the one they wrote, then the word count then the middle letter of each word. The King James Bible was written in the same year as one of our Lamplighter books, The Hedge of Thorns. We started a new book called the Children’s Bible Field Guide. Another new book we started is called Favorite Poems old and new. We read four of the poems from it today they were all weird and about being yourself. One of them was by a man named John Drinkwater. Another one of our books is called the Story of the World. I read some of it last year. It is very interesting. In 1086 there was a book published that listed all the properties in England who owned them and how much they were worth it was called The Doomsday Book. Historia means investigation. In yet another new book Evolution: The Grand Expirement we learned that 48% of the population in the U.S. believe that the world was created in the last 10,000 years. In Lumosity my scores are:

Speed:-

Memory:992

Attention:292

Flexibility:473

Problem Solving: 801

This year I look forward to our many interesting History books. When I grow up I want to be an inventor.

My summer adventures in 2016

This summer was the first summer I went to summer camp, yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I have to tell you all about my week at summer camp. Booo, I mean yay!!! So first of all let me get this strait, it was only five days and not a whole week, boo!!! But it was fun, and super awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I went to a little summer camp up by the Ozarks, in a town named Siloam Springs. This camp is a religious camp that my mom and her sister went to when they were kids and my aunt was also a counselor there in collage. I went with a big group from our church, and all the 5th and 6th grade girls were in a bunkhouse together. The bunkhouse was basicly a big air conditioned room with a bunch of bunkbeds they can house 24 people!!! We had about 15-16 girls and 2 adult leaders from our church, we also had a counselor from camp sleeping with us. On the bus ride up all the kids and adults from our church took up 2 whole buses!!! The ride up was about 3-4 hours long each way with a break for lunch  and bathroom in the middle. the boys stopped before lunch both times and went to the bathroom in the woods, why did they have to do that???On the first night we got there in time for dinner in the dinning hall, witch is at least 50 years old, and has two trees growing inside the building. One is in the dining area and the other is in the kitchen but the health inspectors don’t like that and they have to replace it, booo!!!! But it was cool to get to come before they replace it. This year the thyme was light runners, and it was kind of like star wars. I was on the red team for color wars and that night we had the first game, there was a crobster hunt, we had a redish bean and we had to take it across camp without being caught by one of the leaders, if you got caught by a leader they took your bean and sometimes let you have it back if you did a silly thing they told you to do. I had to sing let it go in my best opera voice, follow a flashlight and then stand in it while getting sprayed by someone with a watergun on a platform in a tree, hop to a tree and back on one foot and do other various things. and if you found a crobster you got bonus points. I couldn’t see the map because in needed a new perscription as I now know, so I was basicly wandering around in the darkness following the sea of people and flashlights, it was still a ton of fun though. The first two meals I had at camp were discusting because I axedentuly got something spicy the first night and had cearyal with cows milk for my first breakfeast. The teaching was really amazing, he was very pasionate. Well the red team won and my subteam won the subteam thing so that is the hilight of my week at summer camp!!!

What I did on my summer vacation

This summer I did not do school. But I did do Scheduled Summer Learning. It involved Math, Spelling and World Book Reading and questions. I played a lot of video games and read a lot of books. I got a new video game for my birthday and some more controllers which was more of a present to the family. The new video game was called Super Smash Bros. Brawl. It is a game where Nintendo took almost all of their characters and put them all into one fighting game. I played it a lot with the people that came over for my birthday. Now my favorite character is Snake he is a fictional secret agent who throws a lot of bombs and hides in boxes. I also got a new board game for my birthday (which by the way was July 17) it is called Stratego. It is a war game similar to chess but most of the pieces move the same and you can’t see what your opponents pieces are. There are also bombs. The goal of the game is to attack and capture you opponents flag. Our family does a thing where every week we have a subject that we get books from at the library about. We get to choose the subject and most of the subjects I have chosen are different countries. I do the countries by continent and I have been doing Europe for a while now. I did Europe all summer. I went to Boy Scout Camp Rockefeller where I got a lot of Merit Badges. We also did merit badge summer school where I got Chess and Camping (which I had started at summer camp) and almost got Pet Care and Entrepreneurship. We also started a garden back in March. In my section I planted strawberries, watermelon and corn. The strawberries never came up. Of the two watermelon that started growing Mom did not let me pick one because she thought it was not ripe yet, but it became over ripe and burst. The other one we picked early but at least it was still edible. We picked two ears of corn but they had been eaten by bugs. After that a big storm killed everything. Also some friends of ours planted some tomatoes for us but it was killed in the storm too. When we got the plot (it is in a community garden) there was what we thought was lettuce in my section so I watered it and weeded it (ironically) until we harvested it and found out it was a weed! I got to see my cousin and my Dad’s mom about halfway between our cities. We took a train to the middle of the woods and back. I spent some time at my friend Elliot’s house. We played a lot of games.

Summer Journal 6/23/16

Today I did not do school school because my friend Jeremiah was here. We played on my DS and on the Wii also we managed to play Risk and Monopoly in 24 hours. We went to the pool and invented a new game like Horse but it is jumping off the diving board onto a noodle.

Summer Journal 6/15/16

Today I learned about probabilities in Math. I learned about the first fleet in Australia reading. I read some Redwall to Mom. I got stung by a bee and it hardly hurt. Dad and I are planning a giant railway system in Minecraft.

Summer Journal 6/14/16

Today I learned about the trade in Australia of the British empire. Vella left for Summer Camp and Adi is going to a VBS from 9:30-11:30. Today Mom and I went to Target. Saturday and Sunday I went on a campout and came home with 28 ticks and I itch!

Summer Journal 6/9/16

For Scheduled Summer Learning I read about European settlements in Australia. We went to Kid’s Art at Amanda’s at 10 o’clock. At the pool no one was there for 20 minutes. Then a random grown-up showed up and Luke and Lawson. We go there a half hour everyday. There was no BBQ because the main people did not show up.
