Squirrels, red and grey are attacking crops in New England. According to a wildlife bilogist Rob Calvert, there was a raise in acorns last year, bumping the squirrel population. This year, there is a shortage of natural food, so they have taken to dining at farms. Squirrels have reportedly been eating apples, pumpkins, corn, blueberries, peaches and gourds. “They’re eating the pumpkins. They’re eating the apples.” Robert Randall, a farmer, commented. “It’s the worst I’ve ever seen.”
