Homeschool Journal 5/25/18

Hey! Today was okay. I finished early, and Mom went to the Chiropractor again, but she is getting better. We went to the library and I got books on moviemaking. Seriously, I know so much about moviemaking you’d think I’d have made a millon, when in truth I haven’t even made one. For example, have you heard of cold readings, the 180 degree rule, table readings, or written your own script before? I’m guessing you can’t answer yes to all of those questions, so therefore I am knowlagable.

Math took a loooooooong time. I have a new archnemisis, pi. I don’t like pi. I mean, I don’t even like pumpkin pie. I know, crazy right? But it is true, so having to do math named after it is just sad. ;(

Mom thought we were on a different day yesterday so she did a week of most subjects. All we had today were poems, some history, and Read-Aloud (which we’re behind on anyway). We read a poem about there not being a road in the woods anymore and some weird ones by William Butler Yeats (which rhymes with hates, strangely). In history we learned about “Hitler’s Rise to Power.” He was born in Austria but considered himself German. He also thought Jews were evil because during World War 1 he saw some Germans not support the war. He decided that foreigners must be spreading unpatrioticness, especially Jews. We also learned about 1930’s politics in Spain.

Finaly we did History, Bible, Poems and Read Alouds. We actually did them yesterday too, but we did it after I wrote my journal. Adi is at a friends house today so it is quiet around here. But I am going to listen to some music, so I won’t beĀ too lonely. (Yeah right) Today math was horrible, it took forever and I had to do pie. (In the form of figuring out the circumfrence and area of a circle.) By the way, I am horrible at spelling and the software doesn’t tell me when I spell something wrong, so forgive my spelling mistakes. (Seriously, it doesn’t under line this red, gohgasdogjoiug.)

We read about Hitler’s reign to power. I forgot he was born in Austria. He thought that Jews spread unpatriotism. We also read about Franko in Italy. There are too many dictators in history. It is sad.

In Bible we read Esther 4 without the rest of the book and Job chapters 1, 38, and 40 also without the rest of the book. In History we learned about the Great Depression. Our books did not tell us this but they used to call depressions “panics” or the like. They came up with “depression” during the Great Depression as a gentler term. We also overviewed fascism. Wall Street was named for the wall that was built along it to protect Dutch settlers (back when New York was still Dutch) from Native Americans and Englishmen.

Today I finished early. Seriously, it is 11:09. We still didn’t do History, Bible, Poems or Read Aloud. Mom is at the Chiropractor, again. Dad went to Adi’s gymnastics. (Mom can’t drive right now so Dad is sort of our Chauffeur.)

I told Mom and Dad my story today. That’s what I’ve been working on. I’ve done a speech and told a story so far… I guess they don’t want me to have Glossophobia. (Fear of speaking in public.) Well, it worked, I feel comfortable speaking in front of large crowds. (Cough Cough, Mom and Dad.) So….

I did math today. (Big surprise.) Since I am still doing a crash course on Geometry I learned about a group of points that are the same distance from one main point. (Circles) It was very-um-interesting… actually it was pretty interesting. It was easy though, Diameter, Radius, Chord…. (Snoring.)

Country Attorney?

Trump nominated Duane Kees for US Attorney of the Western District of Arkansas. Kees is “an ethics and compliance director at Wal-Mart Stores Inc.” (Arkansas Democrat Gazette) Kees was in the military, as well as other government experience. Several people acclaimed him on the nomination. Kees could be one of the next US Attorneys.

Hey! Mom hurt her back last night so we didn’t do History, Bible, Poems, or Read Aloud. Dad came home early to take her to the chiropractor. I finished math in a half hour. My Missions Trip team meeting is tonight! I am so excited! Also I am working on a really cool project, I am making a Television Series with some friends. Our first episode should be finished sometime in August. So exciting!

In LA I had a lot of work to do. All I had to do yesterday was chose a book, but today was different. I had to read the book several times, write notecards, and practice telling the story. It took me a very long time! I read more of The Hobbit today. All I have to say is, Why didn’t they stay on the path???? They were warned several times, and weren’t they told there was nothing good to eat in the forest? Seriously.

Yesterday Mom was sick so she took it easy today. We didn’t do History, Bible, or read aloud. Dad stayed home from work today. Last week we were on vacation so I didn’t write journals. Most schools are finishing about now so you might wonder, when will we be out? The answer is never. We have 11 weeks left of school. Our last week of school is currently the same week as our first week of school. So much for summer.

I did a lesson and a half of math. It didn’t take to long, only about 45 min. I worked on areas. I don’t like areas, or perimeters, but overall geometery is better than regular math. I think parallelograms are okay.

In LA I am readingĀ The Hobbit. It is very different than I thought. I had to learn about Connotations today. They didn’t tell me what they were, they just put them on a checklist of requirements for a book to use for an assignment. So I went to Mom and Dad, they didn’t know. So we looked it up. I didn’t understand what in the world they were talking about. Then they found a good one with examples and everything on Dictionary.com. Connotations, look it up.
